SECTION 3 HEALTH HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY
EYE: Slightly irritating. Airborne fibers and particles can cause mild irritation. At
processing temperatures above 100 癈 (212 癋), irritating fumes may be released
that may cause reddening, tearing, and itching of the eyes.
SKIN: Slightly irritating. Prolonged or repeated exposure to chloroprene polymers may
cause a rash, skin sensitization, and chloracne.
INGESTION: Not a normal route of exposure. Accidental ingestion may cause gastrointestinal
disturbances. Other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or
diarrhea may develop.
INHALATION: Inhalation of airborne fibers or particles of respirable size may cause respiratory
tract irritation. At processing temperatures above 100 癈 (212 癋), irritating
fumes may be released. These fumes may cause coughing, nose and throat
irritation, and soreness.

SECTION 4 FIRST AID MEASURES
EMERGENCY/FIRST AID PROCEDURES
EYE: In case of contact immediately wash eyes with large amounts of water for 15
minutes, holding the eyelids apart to ensure through flushing. If irritation
persists, seek medical attention.
SKIN: Wash gently with soap and water to remove dust and fibers.
INGESTION: Drink extra water to assist natural elimination. Seek medical attention if
gastrointestinal irritation persists or other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or
abdominal pain occur.
INHALATION: Move to fresh air. Drink water to clear throat and blow nose to remove fibers.
Get immediate medical attention if necessary.
SECTION 5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:
Use extinguishing agent suitable for type of surrounding fire.
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Irritating or toxic substances may be emitted upon thermal decomposition. Exposed firefighters should
wear NIOSH approved self-contained breathing apparatus with full face mask and full protective
equipment.

NOTIFICATION INFORMATION
There are no specific reporting requirements for release of this material as supplied under the
Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) (40 CFR 302) or
the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act (SARA) (40 CFR 355). There may be specific
reporting requirements for the release of this material at the local, regional or state level.
SECTION 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING AND STORAGE PROCEDURES
Store in a refrigerated (~40 癋) clean, dry place. Keep containers closed. Use good personal hygiene.
Do not eat, drink or smoke in areas of use or storage. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling
and before eating, drinking or smoking.
SECTION 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
ENGINEERING CONTROLS/WORK PRACTICES
VENTILATION:
Control airborne concentrations below the exposure guidelines specified by the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA) or other local, state and federal regulations.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT/PROTECTIVE MEASURES
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:
Respiratory protection is not normally necessary. Respiratory protection may be needed when handling
used material in non-routine or emergency situations. If exposure limits may possibly exceed the TLV
or respiratory irritation is experienced, NIOSH approved respiratory protection should be worn. An
industrial hygienist or other qualified professional should be consulted during the respiratory selection
process to assure that the respiratory protection used is appropriate under the conditions of use. A
respiratory protection program that meets OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.134 requirements must be followed
whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use.
