HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
Health Effects
Acute - Swallowed No single dose oral toxicity available for this product. However based on
data available for component solvents it is anticipated that acute toxicity
is low. Amounts swallowed incidental to industrial handling are not likely
to cause harm but swallowing of larger quantites may cause injury.
If aspirated, ie liquid enters lung, may cause chemical pneumonitis and may
affect heart and respiration.
Acute - Eye No data available for this product. Based on composition it is anticipated
that contact may cause severe eye irritation and probable corneal injury.
Exposure to high concentration of vapour may irritate the eyes and possibly
cause lacrymation (tears).
Acute - Skin Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause skin irritation. Prolonged or
repeated exposure will degrease the skin causing drying or flaking. May
lead to dermatitis. Single prolonged exposure is not likely to result in
absorption of harmful amounts; however repeated skin exposures may result
in the absorption of harmful amounts. No dermal toxicity has been
determined for this product.
Acute - Inhaled Excessive exposure to high vapour concentrations may cause irritation to
upper respiratory tract and lungs. High concentrations may irritate the
eyes. Signs and symptoms of excessive exposure may be headache, dizziness,
narcotic effects and anesthesia and if not removed from exposure
unconsciousness.
Chronic None known for this product. Based on data available for component solvents
prolonged or repeated excessive exposure may lead to kidney and liver
effects. Prolonged or repeated excessive exposure to high concentrations
may irritate eyes, nose and throat and lead to central nervous system
effects.
Other Information Excessive exposure to xylene, one of the principal solvents present, may
give a feeling of increased body heat depending upon the extent of over
exposure. Excessive exposure to vapours of toluene, another of the principal
solvents present, may cause signs and symptoms of neurologic effects. In
separate studies of toluene and xylene, test animals exposed to high vapour
concentrations, several times higher than exposure standards, have
experienced hearing loss but there are no reports of similar effects in
humans.
Alcohol consumption and physical exertion may increase adverse effects of
solvent exposure.
First Aid
Swallowed Do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water.
Call a doctor and/or transport to an emergency medical facility immediately.

Eye Immediately wash eyes with copious quantity of water for at least 15
minutes. Eyelids to be held open during washing. Consult a doctor.
Skin Wash thoroughly with flowing water or in a shower. Remove contaminated
clothing and footwear. If irritation persists seek medical advice.
Inhaled If effects occur remove to fresh air. If not breathing commence
resuscitation, eg mouth-to-mouth. If breathing difficult, oxygen can be
given by a trained person. Call a doctor and/or transport to an emergency
medical facility.
First Aid Facilities If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or a Poison Information Centre.
Advice to Doctor
Advice to Doctor Because rapid absorption may occur through the lungs if aspirated and cause
adverse effects, the decision on whether to induce vomiting or not should
be made by an attending doctor. If lavage performed endotracheal or
esophageal control is suggested. Danger from lung aspiration must be
weighed against toxicity when considering emptying the stomach.
Due to the presence of toluene (approximately 15% by weight) and the
potential for an increase in 'myocardial irritability' the administration of
drugs must be carefully evaluated.
No specific antidote. Supportive care. Treatment based on the judgment of
the physician in response to the individual reactions of the patient.
Other Health Hazard Information
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Exposure Limits NOHSC Workplace Exposure Standards (WES) recommended for components of this
product are; TWA STEL
Toluene (toluol), 100 ppm 150 ppm
Methyl isobutyl ketone 50 ppm 75 ppm
n-butyl acetate 150 ppm 200 ppm
n-butyl alcohol 50 ppm (peak)
ethyl alcohol (ethanol) 1000 ppm
dibutyl phthalate 5 mg/cubic metre
isobutyl alcohol 50 ppm
Peak = Peak limitation, ceiling concentration which should not be exceeded.
Less than 1% of amorphous silica is bound into the coating and in such form
it is considered that the exposure standard is not applicable.
Eng. Controls Use with adequate ventilation. Local exhaust ventilation may be required
for some operations to control atmospheric levels below the exposure
guidelines.
Other Information Have good work practices and use reasonable care to avoid contact with skin
and eyes. Avoid breathing vapour or mists from product.

Protective Equip. Respiratory Protection: Maintain atmospheric levels below the recommended
exposure standards. If respiratory protection is required for some
conditions use an approved air-purifying (organic vapour) respirator. For
emergencies or for other situations where the exposure standards may be
exceeded use an approved positive pressure self-contained breathing
apparatus. In confined spaces or poorly ventilated locations use an
approved positive pressure supplied-air breathing apparatus.
Skin Protection: Wear clean body-covering clothing and footwear. If
repeated or prolonged contact is anticipated wear impervious gloves.
Suggested protective materials may be nitrile butadiene rubber, butyl
rubber, viton or polyvinyl alcohol (provided free water not present). Due to
the presence of toluene neither polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene plastics
are recommended for protective materials.
Eyes: Wear safety glasses. If potential for eye contact to occur, eg
droplets or mists present in workplace, wear chemical goggles. If vapours
irritate eyes wear an approved full-face respirator.
Flammability
Fire Hazards Highly flammable. Vapour of the solvents present may form flammable
mixtures in air. Keep ignition sources away from workplace and product
handling areas.
