Emergency Overview

Extremely flammable! Keep away from electric motors, heaters, open flames, high intensity heat, smoking, static electricity sources and other
ignition sources. Do not grind, weld, cut or drill on or near containers or pipes. Vapors can ignite explosively. High vapor exposure can cause
central nervous system effects. Irritating to the eyes and skin. APPEARANCE : Black liquid ODOR : Aromatic

Potential Health Effects

--- PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY --Dermal Contact - Inhalation --- SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE --Breathing of vapors (above the
exposure limit) can cause nasal and respiratory tract irritation. Central nervous system (CNS) effects, such as, dizziness, nausea,
headache, weakness, confusion, and possible unconsciousness may also occur. Repeated and prolonged skin contact can cause irritation
and/or dermatitis to occur. Contact with eyes causes irritation. If swallowed, gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea can occur; CNS
effects may also develop. Aspiration of liquid material into the lungs can cause chemical pneumonitis (lung damage). --- LONG-TERM
EXPOSURE --Overexposure to toluene over an extended period of time may cause central nervous system depression and possible liver &
kidney effects. Animal studies have found that toluene causes liver abnormalities and kidney and lung damage. Developmental abnormalities
have occurred in children where pregnant women have abused toluene by deliberate inhalation. Effects include: low birth weight, growth
retardation, development delays, central nervous system dysfunction, renal-urinary defects, microcephaly (small head size), along with other
developmental effects. These effects resemble those seen in human fetal alcohol syndrome. Also, these exteme exposure effects have not
been observed with occupational exposures to toluene. In laboratory animals and at high dose exposures, toluene

--- EYE CONTACT --For irritation, flush eyes with copious
amounts of water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. ---
SKIN CONTACT --SKIN: Wash thoroughly with soap and water
Launder clothing before reuse. --- INHALATION --INHALATION -
If overcome by exposure, remove victim to fresh air. ---
INGESTION --Do not induce vomiting. Get immediate medical
attention.

--- FLASH POINT and METHOD --40 F (toluene) --- FLAMMABLE LIMITS --LEL : 1.3 (Toluene) UEL : 7.0 (Toluene) --- EXTINGUISHING
MEDIA --Water, all purpose (ABC) dry chemical, CO2, foam --- SPECIAL FIRE-FIGHTING PROCEDURES --During emergency conditions,
overexposure to thermal decomposition products may cause a health hazard. An approved, self-contained breathing apparatus with full face
piece should be worn. --- UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD --Flammable! Vapors can ignite explosively. Do not use a direct
stream of water. Solvent will float and can be reignited on the surface of water. Vapors concentrated in a confined, poorly ventilated area can
be ignited upon contact with a spark, flame, or high intensity heat. Containers exposed to intense heat may rupture due to vapor pressure
buildup.

Health Fire Reactivity Specific NFPA Rating 23-Hazard Rating: 0=Insignificant, 1=Slight, 2=Moderate, 3=High, 4=Extreme

---AFTER SPILLAGE/LEAKAGE --- (methods for cleaning up) Wear
personal protective equipment. Eliminate all ignition sources and
provide ventilation. Dike area to contain spill. Prevent spill from
entering sanitary sewers and waterways. Ground and bond
equipment. Absorb with sand, earth, or other non-combustible
absorbent material.

--- PRECAUTIONS --Use with adequate ventilation. Keep vapors away from heat, sparks, open flame and other sources of
ignition in all containers, vessels and associated piping. Vapors may spread long distances and ignite explosively. Ground
and bond all transfer and storage equipment: use non-sparking tools and equipment. Empty containers should not be
reused unless thoroughly cleaned of product residues. --- HANDLING --Avoid eye contact. Avoid inhalation Avoid skin
contact. Use only with adequate ventilation.
--- VENTILATION PROTECTION --There should be enough fresh air flowing past the user to maintain
exposure levels below those listed. --- RESPIRATION PROTECTION --If exposure levels exceed
those listed, approved respiratory protection should be used. --- EYE PROTECTION --Safety glasses
or goggles --- PROTECTIVE GLOVES --Supported polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) --- OTHER PROTECTION
--Eye wash station should be available for emergency use Practice good personal hygiene.
