Section 6: Reactivity Data
Chemical Stability: Stable Unstable
Conditions to Avoid: ND
Incompatibility (Materials to Avoid) : Mineral acids, organic acids, oxidizing agents, and reactive metals. Avoid
contact with nitrous acid, nitrates, or high atmospheres of nirtous oxides as N-Nitrosamines (highly carcinogenic) may
be formed.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Ammonia when heated. Nirosamines, aldehydes. From combustion - nitric acid,
NOx, carbon monoxide.
Hazardous Polymerization (Reactivity) : May Occur Will Not Occur
Section 7: Spill and Leak Procedures:
Steps to be Taken in Case of Material Release or Spillage: Avoid contact with material. Clear area of non-essential
personnel. Personnel wearing appropriate protective equipment should stop spill at source, contain spill, and pump
material to salvage tank. Residual liquid should be taken up with clay, diatomacecous earth or other absorbent and
collected in disposal container.
Waste Disposal Methods: Dispose of material in accordance with Federal, state, and local regulations.
Ecological Information: ND
Ecotoxicity: ND
Section 8: Special Protection Information
Engineering Controls: Adequete, and/or auxiliary ventilation required to avoid breathing vapors. Eye wash station and
emergency shower should be in close proximity.
Respiratory Protection: NIOSH approved respiratory protection against organic vapors is required in absence of
proper environmental control. For emergencies, and self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.
Protective Gloves: Impervious gloves of butyl or neoprene rubber must be worn when handling material.
Eye Protection: Splash proof goggles or full-face shield must be worn when handling material.
Other protective Equipment: Clean, body-covering should be worn to protect exposed skin.
Section 9: Handling and Storage
General: Store away from acids and oxidizers. Keep in cool, dry, ventilated storage area. Store in steel containers,
preferably outdoors, above ground, with leak containment precautions in place.
