K&H PLASTIPRIME IF 2K- HARDENER- PACK B
HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
HEALTH EFFECTS
ACUTE
SWALLOWED Harmful. Highly irritating if swallowed. Low order of toxicity. Unlikely
route of entry. Ingestion causes burning sensation in mouth and stomach,
nausea, vomiting and salivation. Minute amounts aspirated into the lungs
can produce a severe hemorrhagic pneumonitis with severe pulmonary
injury and death.
EYE Vapours can cause eye irritation. Splashes cause severe irritation,
possible corneal burns and eye damage.
SKIN Skin contact results in loss of natural oils and often results in loss of
natural oils and often results in a characteristic dermatitis. May be
absorbed through the skin. MIBK is under review for it's effect by skin
absorption.
INHALED Inhalation of vapours may be irritating to the nose and throat. Inhalation
of high concentrations may result in nausea, vomiting, headache and
severe breathing difficulties, which may be delayed in onset. High
vapour concentrations are anaesthetic and central nervous system
depressant.
CHRONIC Chronic inhalation can cause headache, loss of appetite, nervousness.
Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause a skin rash. Repeated
exposure of the eyes to high concentrations of vapour may cause
reversible eye damage. Repeated exposure can damage bone marrow,
causing low blood cell count. May damage the liver and kidneys.

FIRST AID:
SWALLOWED If swallowed, give a glass of water. Do not induce vomiting. Lean victim
forward to reduce the risk of aspiration. Never give drink to unconscious
person. Seek medical advice. For further advice call Poisons Information
Centre.
EYE Hold eyes open & flood with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
immediate medical advice.
SKIN Remove contaminated clothing and wash area with soap and water. Seek
medical aid if irritation occurs.
INHALED Remove person to fresh air. Lay patient down and keep warm. If
breathing is shallow, apply oxygen and seek medical aid.
FIRST AID FACILITIES Where bodily contact may occur, an eye wash station & safety shower or
supply of clean water should be readily available.
ADVICE TO DOCTOR Treat symptomatically.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
EXPOSURE STANDARDS There is no established TLV for this product mixture. Refer to each
constituent.

MIBK 50ppm 75ppm

TWA- Time Weighted Average means the average airborne concentration of a particular substance when
calculated over a normal 8 hr. working day, for a five day working week
STEL- Short Term Exposure Limit means a 15-minute TWA exposure, which should not be exceeded at any
time during a working day even if the eight-hour TWA average is within the TWA exposure standard.
Exposures at STEL should not be longer than 15 minutes and should not be repeated more than 4 times per
day. There should be at least 60 minutes between successive exposures at the STEL.
Sk- Absorption through the skin may be a significant source of exposure.
Peak limitation means a maximum or peak airborne concentration of a particular substance determined over
the shortest analytically practicable period of time which does not exceed 15 minutes.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS Use only in well ventilated areas. General exhaust ventilation is adequate
under normal operating conditions.
PERSONAL PROTECTION
RESPIRATOR TYPE (AS 1716): Wear an organic vapour respirator (conforming to AS1716) if there is a
risk of exceeding exposure standards.
GLOVE TYPE: Wear PVC or Neoprene gloves.
EYE PROTECTION: Wear chemical goggles or face shield if there is a risk of splashing or eye
contact.
CLOTHING: Overalls and safety boots are recommended.

FLAMMABILITY
FIRE HAZARDS: Flammable. Fire hazard when exposed to heat or flame.
SOURCES OF IGNITION ADVICE: Avoid all sources of ignition.
HAZCHEM CODE: 3 [Y]

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
STORAGE AND TRANSPORT: Store in a cool dry area away from direct sunlight, heat, sparks and open
flames Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Keep
containers securely sealed. Store away from food items and incompatible
materials. Do not store in pits, depressions, basements or areas where
vapours may be trapped Classified as Dangerous goods Class 3, must be
stored and transported in accordance with appropriate state, federal and
territory regulations.
SPILLS AND DISPOSAL: Wear personal protective clothing as recommended above. Remove all
ignition sources and ventilate area. Contain the spill with sand, earth or

inert material. Place in a suitable inert container for waste disposal.
Dispose of in accordance with relevant local regulations. Do not empty in
drains.
HAZARDS OF USE & STORAGE Flammable. Vapour forms an explosive mixture with the air. Explosion
hazard when exposed to heat or flame.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION Vapours are heavier than air and can accumulate in low areas: they may
HAZARDS travel considerable distance to a source of ignition and flash back.
LIST OF DANGEROUS COMPOSITION Thermal decomposition products include oxides of carbon and acrid
OR COMBUSTION PRODUCTS smoke.
FIRE FIGHTING RECOMMENDATION Fire 璮ighters and others exposed to the products of combustion should
wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Prevent spillage from entering
drains and watercourses. Cool fire exposed containers with water spray. If
safe to do so, remove containers from path of fire.
TYPES OF EXTINGUISHER / FIRE Use foam, dry chemical and carbon dioxide extinguishers Water spray or
FIGHTING AGENTS: fog to be used for large fires only.
PRECAUTION: May be violently or explosively reactive.
REACTIVITY: Avoid reaction with oxidising agents, strong acids, peroxides, ferrous salts,
metal halides, alkalis and UV radiation.

OTHER INFORMATION
There is no evidence that exposure to Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK) alone causes progressive or
irreversible neurotoxic effects. However, simultaneous over-exposure to MIBK and n-Hexane can potentiate
the known irreversible neurotoxic effects of n-Hexane. There is no reported human evidence that these
effects occur when exposure to both chemicals is maintained below established limits.
