3 HAZARDOUS IDENTIFICATION

EYE: Direct contact with liquid may cause irritation experienced as
stinging, discomfort or pain.

SKIN: Direct contact may cause irritation, which may be experienced as
itching or slight local redness. Prolonged and/or repeated contact with
the skin may cause irritation characterized by redness, cracking and
blistering. May be absorbed in toxic amounts through the skin when direct
contact is extensive and over a prolonged period of time.

INHALATION: Inhalation of high concentrations of vapors may cause
respiratory tract irritation, producing symptoms of nausea in poorly
ventilated areas.

May cause gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea,
INGESTION:
vomiting, diarrhea and effects similar to those described under INHALATION.

Individuals with pre-existing disease in or a history of ailments involving
the skin, eye, respiratory tract, liver, kidney, central nervous system are
at a greater than normal risk of developing adverse effects when exposed to
this material.

4 FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE CONTACT: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-
20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes,
then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control center or doctor for
treatment advice.

SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with
plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. If redness, itching, burning or other
symptoms develop or persist, get medical attention promptly. Wash
contaminated clothing before reuse.

INHALATION: Move person to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, call 911
or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably mouth-to-
mouth. Call a poison control center or doctor for further treatment
advice.

INGESTION: Immediately call a poison control center or doctor for
treatment advice. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by a poison
control center or doctor. Do not give any liquid to the person. Do not
give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: There is no specific antidote for effects from

FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES:
extinguishing fire.

FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Product is non-flammable as supplied. Do not
depend on ambient air for breathing air supply during fires. Fire may
result into releases of toxic gases such as oxides of carbon, nitrogen and
sulfur.

6 SPILL AND LEAK PROCEDURES

Soak up spills with absorbent material and scoop into drums. Follow all
local, state, and federal regulations for disposal. Keep spills out of
municipal sewers and open bodies of water. Do not discharge into lakes or
streams. The floor may be slippery. Use caution to avoid falls.
7 HANDLING AND STORAGE

HANDLING: Avoid breathing vapors, mists or fumes. Avoid contact with skin
or eyes. Observe good personal hygiene practices and recommended
procedures. Wash thoroughly after handling.

STORAGE: Keep in a closed, labeled container within a cool (well-shaded),
dry, ventilated area. Protect from physical damage. Keep containers
closed when material is not in use. Maintain good housekeeping. Keep from
freezing.
8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Provide sufficient general/local exhaust
ENGINEERING CONTROLS:
ventilation.

RESPIRATORS: Not required under normal use conditions. If ventilation is
inadequate to maintain personal inhalation exposures below TLV (PEL), use
appropriate MSHA/NIOSH approved respiratory protection to comply with
current 29 CFR 1910.134 and manufacturer's "Instructions" and "Warnings".

11 TOXICOLOGICAL DATA

Ethylene Thiourea is considered a reasonably anticipated carcinogen by the
National Toxicology Program (NTP)based on liver, thyroid, and lymphatic
system tumors in animals.

Overall evaluation of ethylene thiourea resulted in a downgrade by IARC to
Group 3 (not classifiable as to carcinogenicity in humans) on the basis of
mechanistic data. (2001)

Oral LD50 - Rats 1.4 gm/kg
Dermal LD50 - Rabbits >2.0 gm/kg
