Section 10 - CHEMICAL STABILITY AND REACTIVITY INFORMATION

CONDITIONS CONTRIBUTING TO INSTABILITY
- Presence of incompatible materials.
- Product is considered stable.
- Hazardous polymerisation will not occur.

Section 11 - TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS

ACUTE HEALTH EFFECTS

SWALLOWED
Accidental ingestion of the material may be damaging to the health of the
individual.

EYE
There is some evidence to suggest that this material can cause eye irritation
and damage in some persons.

SKIN
There is some evidence to suggest that this material can cause inflammation of
the skin on contact in some persons.
Entry into the blood-stream, through, for example, cuts, abrasions or lesions,
may produce systemic injury with harmful effects. Examine the skin prior to the
use of the material and ensure that any external damage is suitably protected.

INHALED
The material is not thought to produce either adverse health effects or
irritation of the respiratory tract following inhalation (as classified by EC
Directives using animal models). Nevertheless, adverse systemic effects have
been produced following exposure of animals by at least one other route and good
hygiene practice requires that exposure be kept to a minimum and that suitable
control measures be used in an occupational setting.
Not normally a hazard due to non-volatile nature of product.

CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS
Substance accumulation, in the human body, may occur and may cause some concern
following repeated or long-term occupational exposure. There has been some
concern that this material can cause cancer or mutations but there is not enough
data to make an assessment. High boiling residues of petroleum process can
produce both benign and malignant skin tumours, according to animal testing.
They may contain significant concentrations of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAHs). Oil may contact the skin or be inhaled. Extended exposure can lead to
eczema, inflammation of hair follicles, pigmentation of the face and warts on
the soles of the feet. Exposure to oil mists can cause asthma, pneumonia and
scarring of the lungs. Oils have been linked to cancer of the skin and scrotum.
Compounds that are less viscous and with smaller molecular weights are more
dangerous. There may be liver damage and the lymph nodes may be affected; heart

inflammation can also occur at high doses.

TOXICITY AND IRRITATION
Not available. Refer to individual constituents.
unless otherwise specified data extracted from RTECS - Register of Toxic Effects
of Chemical Substances

PARAFFINIC DISTILLATE, HEAVY, SOLVENT-DEWAXED (SEVERE):
No data of toxicological significance identified in literature search.
The substance is classified by IARC as Group 3:
NOT classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans.
Evidence of carcinogenicity may be inadequate or limited in animal testing.

RESIDUAL OILS, PETROLEUM, SOLVENT DEWAXED:
Not available. Refer to individual constituents.

MINERAL OIL:
Toxicity and Irritation data is related to chemical components and
varies as does the composition and source of the original crude.
A small but definite risk of occupational skin cancer occurs in workers
exposed to persistent skin contamination by oils over a period of years.
This risk has been attributed to the presence of certain polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) (typified by benz[a]pyrene).
Petroleum oils which are solvent refined/extracted or severely hydrotreated,
contain very low concentrations of both.

Section 12 - ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

DO NOT discharge into sewer or waterways.

Section 13 - DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

- Consult manufacturer for recycling options and recycle where possible .
- Consult State Land Waste Management Authority for disposal.
- Incinerate residue at an approved site.
- Recycle containers if possible, or dispose of in an authorised landfill.
