Carbon black is a respirable dust which may cause injury to the respiratory tract if inhaled
in excessive concentrations. The carbon black in this product is compounded into the
polymer matrix and, thus, is not expected to present the same hazards as neat carbon
black.

This compound may contain varying amounts of polymers, stabilizers, and processing
aids. Except as indicated above, any hazardous chemicals that may be included in these
mixtures are present in concentrations of less than 1.0 percent.
3. HEALTH INFORMATION & PROTECTION
None known
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Flush eyes with water immediately for at least 15 minutes. if irritation or discomfort
persists, obtain medical attention.
Skin: Wash affected area with mild soap and water. If hot polymer burns the skin,
immerse burned area in cold running water and obtain medical attention immediately.
Inhalation: Remove affected individual to fresh air, obtain medical attention for irritation
or other exposure symptom.
Ingestion: Not a probable route of exposure, but avoid ingestion of the product.
5. FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARD
Flash Point: not applicable
Autoignition Temperature: greater than 410 C.
Flammable Limits in Air: not applicable
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Emits toxic fumes when heated to
decomposition. Avoid accumulation and dispersion of dust to
reduce explosion potential.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Spill: Sweep up and collect in suitable container for disposal.
Caution: Pellets on floor are slippery and can cause falls.
7. STORAGE AND HANDLING
Storage: Store in moisture proof containers in a cool and dry area
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Ventilation: Maintain vapor or dust levels below the permissible TLV concentration by the
use of an adequate local or mechanical (general) exhaust system.
Normal Handling: Wear adequate personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapor
or dust. Use with adequate ventilation.
Respiratory Protection:
Dust: Excessive nuisance dust may be irritating to the eyes and breathing passages and
may cause skin abrasion. The American Conference of Governmental Industrial
Hygienists recommends a threshold limit value (TLV) of 10 milligrams per cubic meter of
air for general nuisance dust. This level should not be exceeded. If upper respiratory tract
irritation occurs, use a respirator designed for nuisance type dust.
Vapor: Breathing hot vapors of N璪utylbenzenesulfonamide may cause respiratory
irritation. Vent all hot vapors to emission control device.
Eyes and Face: Safety glasses should be worn in all manufacturing areas.
Hands, Arms, and Body: Gloves should be worn when opening and emptying shipping
containers to minimize cuts and bruises.

Other Clothing and Equipment: When handling molten resin, a face shield, protective
gloves, and arm protection should be worn.
Fire Extinguishing Agents Recommended: Water, water fog, carbon dioxide, dry chemical,
or foam fire extinguishing systems.
Special Fire Fighting Precautions: A self-contained breathing apparatus approved by the
National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) should be used.
Appearance and Odor: Off-white or black (if BK) pellets, negligible odor.
9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
Melting Point: 216 C.
Specific Gravity: 1.13
Vapor Density: not applicable
Solubility in Water: not soluble
Vapor Pressure (mm Hg at 20 C): negligible
Evaporation Rate (Butyl acetate = 1): not applicable
% Volatiles by Volume: negligible
10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
Stability: Nylon materials are inherently stable. However, when nylon melts are
overheated by exposure to temperatures above normal processing temperatures and/or
for extended periods of time, some decomposition products may be produced which may
be injurious to health. The organic compounds produced in this type of decomposition will
depend upon the specific temperature, time, and environment involved, but may include
nitriles, amines, ketones, and carboxylic acids of many molecular weights and structures.

Incompatibility (Materials to Avoid): Strong oxidants
Combustion: When exposed to flame, nylon resins may release carbon monoxide and
small amounts of hydrogen cyanide into the atmosphere. The decomposition products
mentioned above may also be produced.
Hazardous Polymerization: will not occur
11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Hazardous Decomposition Products: All nylon resins, including NYLAMID, can
decompose. The nature of the decomposition products will depend upon the temperature
and environmental conditions to which NYLAMID nylon is exposed and the time of
exposure. Under normal processing conditions, NYLAMID nylon resins may produce a
small amount of volatile material including low molecular weight volatile polymer fractions
(oligomers). These materials can be observed as fumes around melt processing
equipment when, for instance, molten resin is exposed to air or when molds are opened.
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Octanol/Water Partition Coefficient: not applicable
May cause adverse environmental impact if material reaches waterways.
EPA Hazardous Substance: No
13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
Waste Disposal Methods (Disposer Must Comply with Federal, State, and Local Disposal
or Discharge Laws.): If reprocessing of waste resin is not desirable for the
particular end use and the waste is to be discarded, it can be discarded as a harmless
organic material.
