Issue Date: November 2003 ISSUED by BOSTIK
Infosafe No. 2BKPC
Product Name: BOSTIK 9101 CURING AGENT
Classified as hazardous according to criteria of NOHSC
Acute - Inhaled Inhalation of ethyl acetate vapours may cause irritation to mucous
membranes and respiratory tract. Inhalation of high concentrations can
produce central nervous system depression, which can lead to loss of
co-ordination, impaired judgement and, if exposure prolonged,
unconsciousness.
Chronic Repeated or prolonged skin contact can lead to dermatitis.
This material contains isocyanate which
may cause sensitisation of the respiratory system through repeated exposure
to product fumes or aerosols.
First Aid
Swallowed If swallowed seek immediate medical advice.
Eye Flush with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical
attention.
Skin Remove contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash affected area thoroughly
with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs. Launder
clothing before re-use.
Inhaled Remove patient from contaminated area. Seek immediate medical advice.

Advice to Doctor
Advice to Doctor Treat symptomatically.

Other Health Hazard Information
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Exposure Limits No exposure standard is available for the material as such. Exposure
standards for the hazardous components are as follows (NOHSC):
Ethyl acetate: TWA: 200ppm (720mg/m3), STEL: 400ppm (1440 mg/m3)
Isocyanates: TWA: 0.02mg/m3, STEL: 0.07mg/m3 - Sensitiser
TWA is the time weighted average concentration of the work atmosphere over a
normal 8-hour work day and a 40-hour work week. Nearly all workers may be
repeatedly exposed to this level, day after day, without adverse effect.
These TWAs are issued as guidelines for good practice. All atmospheric
contamination should be kept to as low a level as is practically possible.
These TWAs should not be used as fine lines between safe and dangerous
concentrations.
Sensitiser - substances which can cause specific immune responses in some
individuals. Initial exposure may cause 'sensitisation' then on subsequent
exposures, even to minute levels of the material, severe reactions can occur
including skin rash or inflammation or asthma.
Persons who have a history of respiratory disorders are advised not to
expose themselves to isocyanates.
Eng. Controls Use only in a well ventilated area. Ventilation to be sufficient to ensure
exposure to vapours is as low as practicable or at least below the
recommended exposure standards. Local exhaust ventilation may be necessary.
Personal Protection
Protective Equip. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and avoid breathing vapour.
The following personal protective equipment is recommended:
Respiratory protection such as organic vapour cartrdige mask or air
supplied system if ventilation inadequate.
Chemical resistant rubber gloves.
Safety goggles.
Overalls.
Flammability
Fire Hazards Highly flammable.

Spills and Disposal
Spills & Disposal Shut off all possible sources of ignition. Clean-up personnel to wear
appropriate personal protective equipment. Increase ventilation. Contain
spill with sand, earth, vermiculite or similiar inert absorbent material.
Prevent run off into drains and water-ways. Prevent spreading of flammable
vapours. Collect in clearly labelled containers, do not seal. Keep used
absorbent damp and containers in a well ventilated area for several days
(until all carbon dioxide has evolved). Dispose as per statutory
regulations.
Fire/Explosion Hazard
Fire/Explos. Hazard Vapours can readily form flammable/explosive mixtures with air at
temperatures at or above flash point.
Keep containers sealed when not in use.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Hazardous decomposition products on heating and/or burning: oxides of
carbon, smoke and other toxic fumes.
Fire-fighting personnel to wear self-contained breathing apparatus and
protective clothing.
Extinguishing media: foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemical.
Due to the volatility of this product containers are to be kept cool during
a fire to prevent rupture.
Hazardous Reaction Incompatible with moisture, amines, alcohols, acids and alkali. Reacts with
water to form carbon dioxide. Closed containers may rupture due to increase
in pressure.
