6. HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
PRECAUTIONARY INFORMATION: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not ingest. Use with adequate
ventilation.
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY:
INHALATION: Unlikely at ambient temperatures.
SKIN ABSORPTION: Unlikely.
INGESTION: Unlikely

DANGER: Women of childbearing age should avoid contact with this material (NIOSH Current Intelligence Bulletin 22,

SKIN: Contact may cause irritation. Prolonged contact may cause possible sensitization in some. Birth defects have
occurred in animals following skin absorption of ethylene thiourea.
EYE: Direct contact may cause painful stinging or burning, watering eyes.
INGESTION: Ingestion of ethylene thiourea may cause metallic taste followed by vomiting, diarrhea and collapse.
Ethylene thiourea crosses the placenta and may cause birth defects.
CARCINOGENICITY: Ethylene thiourea as classified carcinogenic by IARC: group 3 (limited evidence of
carcinogenicity in laboratory animals and no human data)
7. EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES
SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Consult physician if irritation persists.
EYES: Irrigate with water for at least 15 mins. Consult physician if irritation persists.
INGESTION: Give plenty of water ONLY if victim is conscious. Induce vomiting. Consult physician immediately.

Store in cool, dry location away from all sources of heat, sparks and open flames. Keep containers closed to prevent
contamination. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash thoroughly after handling.
9. SPILL AND LEAK PROCEDURE
WORKPLACE RELEASES: Do not flush into sewers. Remove all possible ignition sources. Pick up slabs or sweep up
pellets. Place in waste disposal containers. Dispose in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

SOIL RELEASE: Do not flush into sewers. Pick up slabs or sweep up pellets and contaminated soil and place in dry
recovery drums. Dispose of as laws and regulations allow.
WATER RELEASE: Notification of the proper governing agency may be appropriate.
AIR RELEASE: Unlikely to be released to the air because of low volatility.
