HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
Health Effects:
Acute:
Swallowed: Harmful if swallowed.
Eye: Will irritate the eyes.
Skin: Will irritate the skin. The product has low acute dermal toxicity in
the rat. The active ingredients, diclofop-methyl and fenoxaprop-p-
ethyl were sensitising to the skin in one test, but not in another.
Dermal sensitising studies (guinea pig) with a 5% emulsion of the
product in saline showed it to be non-sensitising.
Inhaled: Product is expected to be of low toxicity by the inhalation route.
However, avoid breathing vapour.
Chronic: Diclofop-methyl was not mutagenic or teratogenic. An increased
incidence of liver tumours was noted in long-term studies with
diclofop-methyl in rodents. As the mechanism involved is not
relevant to humans, and the dose levels were very high, the potential
oncogenic risk to humans is considered negligible. Fenoxaprop-ethyl
and mefenpyr-diethyl showed no mutagenicity, reproductive toxicity
or carcinogenicity in animal studies. Prolonged or repeated skin
contact with the hydrocarbon liquid solvent in this product may
result in irritation and dermatitis.
First Aid If poisoning occurs, immediately contact a doctor or Poisons
Information Centre (telephone 13 11 26), and follow the advice
given. Show this Material Safety Data Sheet to a doctor.
Swallowed: Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Give a glass of
water. Keep patient at rest and seek medical advice as above.
Eye: Rinse eyes immediately with clean water for at least 15 minutes and
obtain medical aid.
Skin: Carefully remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected areas with
soap and water. Seek medical aid if at all worried.

Inhaled: If inhaled, remove to fresh air and keep at rest. Obtain medical
advice if at all worried.
First Aid Facilities: No specific facilities required.
Advice to Doctor: Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive after
decontamination. In the event a large amount (more than one
mouthful) has been ingested, the following measures should be
considered:
Gastric lavage, followed by charcoal administration. As this product
contains a hydrocarbon solvent, care should be taken to prevent
pulmonary aspiration. Small amounts of liquid aspirated into the
respiratory system during ingestion or from vomiting may cause
bronchopneumonia or pulmonary oedema.
Endotracheal intubation
Elimination by dialysis (forced alkaline diuresis)
Monitor kidney and liver function, red blood cell count, blood lipids
and cholesterol for hypolipidaemia and lowered cholesterol (low
density lipoproteins). There have been no documented cases of
poisoning during manufacture of the active ingredients in this
product.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Exposure Standards: No exposure standard has been assigned by the National
Occupational Health and Safety Commission (Worksafe Australia).
The manufacturer of the solvent recommends an Occupational
Exposure Limit (OEL) of 100 ppm total hydrocarbons.
Engineering Controls: Control process conditions to avoid contact. Use only in well-
ventilated areas.
Personal Protection: Eyes: Wear face shield or goggles.
Clothing: Wear cotton overalls buttoned to neck and wrist, and a
washable hat.
Gloves: Wear elbow-length PVC gloves.
Respiratory: Do not breathe vapour. Use an organic chemical
cartridge respirator when working in poorly ventilated
areas.
Other: Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink or
smoke until after washing. After each day's use, wash
gloves, face shield or goggles and contaminated
clothing.
Flammability: Combustible liquid Class C1鈥? Flash point between 61 and 150掳 C. Fire
point (126潞C) less than boiling point (178潞C).

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
Storage and
Transport:
Corrosivity Hazards: None known.
Handling & Storage Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do
Precautions: not inhale vapour. If product in eyes, wash it out immediately with
water. Wash hands after use. Store in the closed, original container in
a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in
direct sunlight. Protect from extremes of heat and cold. Keep away
from food, drink and animal feed.
Transport: The product is not classified as a Dangerous Good under the
Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and
Rail.
Spills and Disposal:
Spillage or Leak Shut off or remove any sources of ignition. DO NOT smoke. Avoid
Procedures: contact with the spilled material or contaminated surfaces. When
dealing with spills wear personal protective clothing and equipment
as described in the PERSONAL PROTECTION section above. Keep
people and animals away and upwind. Contain spill and absorb with
earth, sand, clay, or other absorbent material, collect and store in
properly labelled, sealed drums for safe disposal. Deal with all
spillages immediately. If contamination of drains, streams,
watercourses, etc. is unavoidable, warn the local water authority.
Waste Disposal When returnable container is empty or contents no longer required
Methods: return it to the point of purchase. For non-returnable containers,
triple or (preferably) pressure rinse them before disposal. Add
rinsings to spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site.
If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or
designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush or puncture
and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill
is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit
specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways,
desirable vegetation and tree roots. Empty containers and product
should not be burnt. Dispose of waste product via a licensed disposal
contractor to an approved landfill.
Fire/Explosion Hazard:
Extinguishing Media: Water fog, fine water spray, foam or dry agent.
