Poisons Schedule (Aust)/Toxic Substance (NZ): S6
This material is a Scheduled Poison S6 and must be stored, maintained and used in accordance with the
relevant regulations.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Poison Information Centres in each State capital city can provide additional assistance for scheduled poisons.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Give plenty of water to drink. If more than 15 minutes from a hospital
induce vomiting using fingers in the throat or Ipecac Syrup APF. Seek immediate medical assistance.
Eye contact: Irrigate with copious quantities of water for 15 minutes. In all cases of eye contamination it is a
sensible precaution to seek medical advice.
Skin contact: Wash contaminated skin with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before
re-use. If irritation occurs seek medical advice.
Inhalation: Remove victim from exposure - avoid becoming a casualty. Seek medical advice if effects persist.
Notes to physician: Treat symptomatically.
5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Specific hazards: Non combustible material.
Fire fighting further advice: Not combustible, however following evaporation of aqueous component residual
material can burn if ignited. On burning will emit toxic fumes. Fire fighters to wear self-contained breathing
apparatus if risk of exposure to vapour or products of combustion.
Suitable extinguishing media: Water fog (or if unavailable fine water spray), foam, dry agent (carbon dioxide,
dry chemical powder).
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Wear protective equipment to prevent skin and eye contamination. Contain - prevent contamination of drains and
waterways. Use absorbent (soil, sand, or other inert material). Collect and seal in properly labelled containers
for disposal. If contamination of crops or waterways has occurred advise emergency services or State
Department of Agriculture.

Storage: Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well ventilated area. Do not store for long periods in
direct sunlight. Store away from foodstuffs.
This material is a Scheduled Poison S6 and must be stored, maintained and used in accordance with the
relevant regulations.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
National occupational exposure limits
No value assigned for this specific material by the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission
(Worksafe Australia).
For flutriafol:
ICI Recommended Exposure Standard (TWA): 5 mg/m3
The recommended exposure standard (TWA) is the time-weighted average
airborne concentration over an eight-hour working day, for a five-day
working week over an entire working life. According to current
knowledge this concentration should neither impair the health of, nor
cause undue discomfort to, nearly all workers.
If the directions for use on the product label are followed, exposure of
individuals using the product will not exceed the above standard. The
standard was created for workers who are routinely, potentially exposed
during product manufacture.
Engineering measures: Natural ventilation should be adequate under normal use conditions. Keep containers
closed when not in use.
Personal protection equipment: Orica Personal Protection Guide No.1, 1998: H - OVERALLS, SAFETY
SHOES, CHEMICAL GOGGLES, GLOVES (S), RESPIRATOR.
Avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of spray mist. Wear overalls, chemical goggles and impervious
gloves. ventilation. If inhalation risk exists wear a respirator meeting the requirements of AS 1715 and AS 1716.
Always wash hands before smoking, eating, drinking or using the toilet.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
Stability: No information available.
11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Main symptoms: No adverse health effects expected if the product is handled in accordance with this Safety
Data Sheet and the product label. Symptoms that may arise if the product is mishandled are:
Ingestion: No adverse effects expected, however large amounts may cause nausea and vomiting.
Eye contact: A mild eye irritant.
Skin contact: Repeated or prolonged skin contact may lead to irritation.
Inhalation: Harmful if spray mist inhaled.
Long Term Effects: Evidence from animal tests indicate that repeated or prolonged exposure to flutriafol could
result in liver and reproductive system disorders.
Acute toxicity / Chronic toxicity
No LD50 data available for product.
For Flutriafol tech. (1):
Oral Median Lethal Dose (rat): 1140 mg/kg
Dermal Median Lethal Dose (rat): >1000 mg/kg
Median Lethal Concentration (rat): 1.65 mg/L/4 hours
SKIN: Non irritant (rat)
EYES: Mild irritant (rabbit)
Not a skin sensitiser (guinea pig).
Studies in animals have shown that repeated doses produce embryo/
foetotoxic effects (not teratogenic). The no effect level was
10 mg/kg/day (rat) and 7.5 mg/kg/day (rabbit).
Chronic studies in animals have shown that repeated doses primarily
attack the liver.
ADI (Acceptible Daily Intake) for man is 0.01 mg/kg/day. (3)
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
For Flutriafol tech. (1,2):
TOXICITY:
Aquatic organisms:
Flutriafol is harmful to aquatic organisms.

48 hr EC50 (daphnia magna): 78 mg/L
A study in fish has shown that repeated exposures produce no adverse
effect on growth rate up to 21 mg/L. The no effect concentration was
6.2 mg/L.
Wildlife:
LD50 Oral (mallard duck): >5000 mg/kg
Oral LD50(honey bee): >0.005 mg/bee
ENVIRONMENTAL FATE AND DISTRIBUTION:
The substance has moderate mobility in soil in laboratory tests.
Adsorption depends on soil pH and organic matter. There is low
potential for bioaccumulation.
PERSISTENCE AND DEGRADATION:
There is no evidence of hydrolysis or photodegradation in soil. There
is no evidence of hydrolysis in water but there is rapid
photodegradation in river water.
13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. Do not dispose of
undiluted chemicals on-site. Break, crush or puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If
not available burythe containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose
clear of waterways, vegetation and roots. Empty containers and product should not be burnt.
