HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Health Effects:
Acute:
Swallowed: Product is poisonous if swallowed. Harmful. Acute oral LD50 for rats 864
mg/kg. May cause nausea and abdominal pain. Seek medical advice.
Show this MSDS to a medical practitioner.

Eye: Attacks the eyes.

Skin: Will irritate the skin. Acute percutaneous LD50 for rats >2160 mg/kg

Inhaled: Product is poisonous if inhaled. Will irritate mucous membranes of nose
and mouth.

Other Health No other known health effects.
Effects
Chronic: In 24-month feeding trials (technical MCPA), rats receiving 1.33 mg/kg
bw/d and mice receiving 18 mg/kg bw/d showed no ill effects. In 90-day
feeding trials (technical bromoxynil octanoate), no effect level for rats
was 15.6 mg/kg bw/d; for dogs was 5 mg/kg bw/d. Non-carcinogenic
(technical bromoxynil). Bromoxynil is a suspected teratogen. The
compound produced birth defects in rats at oral doses above 35 mg/kg.
Toxic effects included abnormal rib formation and reduced foetal
weight. Newborn rabbits had birth defects when bromoxynil was
administered to pregnant mothers at doses above 30 mg/kg. In the
rabbit, birth defects included changes in bone formation in the skull and
hydrocephaly.

First Aid If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre
(telephone: 13 11 26).

Swallowed: If swallowed, and if more than 15 minutes from a hospital, induce
vomiting, preferably using Ipecac Syrup APF. Seek immediate medical
assistance. Show this MSDS to a medical practitioner.

Eye: Immediately irrigate with copious quantities of water for at least 15
minutes. Seek medical assistance. Show this MSDS to a medical
practitioner.

Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected areas with plenty of soap
and water.

Inhaled: Remove victim to fresh air. Seek medical advice. Show this MSDS to a
medical practitioner.

First Aid Facilities: Ensure washing facilities are available.

person. In the case of poisoning by any exposure route, contact a

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

Exposure Standards: No occupational exposure standards have been established for the
product or its ingredients.

Engineering Controls: Use in a well-ventilated area only.

Personal Protection: Product is poisonous if inhaled or swallowed. Attacks the eyes. Avoid
contact with the eyes and skin. Do not inhale spray mist. When
preparing the spray and using the prepared spray, wear cotton overalls
buttoned to the neck and wrist, washable hat, elbow-length PVC gloves
and face shield or goggles. If product in eyes, wash it out immediately
with water. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking wash
hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each
day's use, wash gloves, face shield or goggles and contaminated
clothing.

Flammability: Combustible.

Other Use Precautions To be used strictly in accordance with label instructions.

Storage and Keep out of reach of children. Wear long sleeved overalls and gloves
Transport: while handling. After handling and before eating, drinking or smoking
wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. Store in
the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area, out of
direct sunlight. Store in locked room or place away from children,
animals, food, feedstuffs, seed and fertilisers. Avoid contact with the
eyes, skin and clothing or inhalation of product.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION (CONTINUED)
Spills and Disposal: Shut off all possible sources of ignition. DO NOT smoke. Avoid contact
with eyes, skin and clothing or inhalation of product. Dealing with
spills and disposals may result in the potential for increased personal
exposure. During such operations it is recommended that the
following protective clothing is worn:
* Cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist
* Face shield or goggles
* Elbow-length PVC gloves
CONTAIN SPILL and absorb with earth, sand, sawdust, clay, sweeping
material or absorbent material and store in properly labelled, sealed
drums for safe disposal in an approved landfill, or bury under at least
500 mm of soil in a non-crop, non-pasture area away from water
sources or homes. DO NOT burn empty containers or product. Deal
with all spillages immediately. Keep people away and upwind. If
contamination of drains, streams, watercourses etc is unavoidable,
warn the local water authority.

Spillage or Leak
Procedures:
Waste Disposal Triple (or preferably) pressure rinse containers before disposal. Add
Methods: rinsings to the spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-
site. Break, crush or puncture and bury empty containers in local
authority landfill. If not available, bury the containers below 500 mm
in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear
of waterways, vegetation and roots. Empty containers or product
should not be burnt.

Extinguishing Media: Extinguish fire using: Foam, Carbon dioxide, Dry agent, Waterspray

Special Fire Fighting Full protective gear, including self-contained breathing apparatus (AS

Reactivity Hazards: Stable under normal conditions of use. No dangerous reaction known
under normal conditions of use.
