SECTION 4. FIRST AID MEASURES
General advice : Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur.
Inhalation : DO NOT DELAY. Remove to fresh air. OBTAIN MEDICAL
ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.
Skin contact : Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water using
soap if available. If persistent irritation occurs, obtain medical
attention.
Eye contact : DO NOT DELAY. Flush eye with water. OBTAIN MEDICAL
ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.

(yellowish skin color) and sometimes pain in the upper abdomen
on the right side. Kidney damage may be evidenced by changes
in urine output, urine appearance or edema (swelling from fluid
retention). Peripheral nerve damage may be evidenced by
muscular weakness and loss of sensation in the arms and legs.
Treatment : Dermatitis may result from prolonged or repeated exposure. If
skin sensitisation has developed and a causal relationship has
been confirmed, further exposure should not be allowed. Treat
symptomatically.

spreads along the ground and distant ignition is possible.
Phosgene, a corrosive and toxic gas, and other potentially
hazardous chlorine-containing compounds may be released
upon combustion.
Evacuate the area of all non-essential personnel. Container
areas exposed to direct flame contact should be cooled with
large quantities of water as needed to prevent weakening of
container structure.
Special protective : Do not enter confined fire space without full bunker gear (helmet
equipment for fire-fighters with face shield, bunker coats, gloves and rubber boots).
including a positive pressure NIOSH approved self-contained
breathing apparatus.
SECTION 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal precautions : Extremely Flammable.
Vapors are flammable and heavier than air. Vapors may travel
across the ground and reach remote ignition sources causing a
flashback fire danger.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes, clothing
Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.
Do not breathe vapour
Ventilate contaminated area thoroughly.
Extinguish naked flames.
Remove ignition sources.
No smoking.
Avoid sparks.
Evacuate the area of all non-essential personnel.
Shut off leaks, if possible without personal risk.
Environmental precautions : Prevent contamination of soil and water.
Prevent from spreading or entering into drains, ditches or rivers
by using sand, earth, or other appropriate barriers.
If material enters drains, it should be pumped out into an open
vessel. Emergency services may need to be called to assist in
this operation.

Clean-up methods - small : Absorb or contain liquid with sand, earth or spill control material.
spillage Shovel up and place in a labelled, sealable container for
subsequent safe disposal.
Scrub contaminated surfaces with detergent solution
Retain washings as contaminated waste.
Clean-up methods - large : Transfer to a labelled, sealable container for product recovery or
spillage safe disposal.
Otherwise treat as for small spillage.
Additional advice : Risk of explosion. Inform the emergency services if liquid enters
surface water drains.
Vapour may form an explosive mixture with air.
Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages
cannot be contained.
Notify authorities if any exposures to the general public or
environment occurs or is likely to occur.
See Section 13 for information on disposal.
SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling
Advice on safe handling : Observe all relevant local regulations.
Use a vapour recovery or return system. Earth all equipment.
Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Avoid
splash filling. Do not use compressed air for filling, discharging
or handling. If positive displacement pumps are used, these
must be fitted with a non-integral pressure relief valve. Restrict
line velocity during pumping in order to avoid generation of
electrostatic discharge. Refer to supplier for further product
transfer instructions if required.
Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Avoid
contact with skin, eyes and clothing When using do not eat or
drink. Do not breathe vapour Only use in well ventilated areas.
Use local exhaust extraction. Extinguish any naked flames.
Remove ignition sources. Avoid sparks. Do not smoke. Earth all
equipment. Take precautionary measures against static
discharges. Do not empty into drains.
Storage
Requirements for storage : Store in accordance with local regulations.
areas and containers
Keep in a bunded area. Do not smoke in storage areas. Keep
container tightly closed and in a cool, well-ventilated place.
Keep away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat or
ignition. Keep under nitrogen.
