Section 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES
SWALLOWED
鈥? If swallowed do NOT induce vomiting.
鈥? If vomiting occurs, lean patient forward or place on left side (head-down position, if possible) to maintain open airway and prevent
aspiration.
EYE
If this product comes in contact with the eyes:
鈥? Immediately hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water.
鈥? Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye and moving the eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper
and lower lids.
SKIN
If skin or hair contact occurs:
鈥? Immediately flush body and clothes with large amounts of water, using safety shower if available.
鈥? Quickly remove all contaminated clothing, including footwear.
INHALED
鈥? If fumes or combustion products are inhaled remove from contaminated area.
鈥? Lay patient down. Keep warm and rested.
NOTES TO PHYSICIAN
Treat symptomatically.
Section 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Water spray or fog.
FIRE FIGHTING
Alert Fire Brigade and tell them location and nature of hazard.
Clear area of personnel and move upwind.
鈥? Wear full body protective clothing with breathing apparatus.
鈥? Prevent, by any means available, spillage from entering drains or water courses.
Cool fire exposed containers with water spray from a protected location.
If safe to do so, remove containers from path of fire.
Equipment should be thoroughly decontaminated after use.
FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD
鈥? The material is not readily combustible under normal conditions.
鈥? However, it will break down under fire conditions and the organic component may burn.
Decomposition may produce toxic fumes of hydrogen chloride and minor amounts of sulfur oxides (SOx).
FIRE INCOMPATIBILITY
Avoid reaction with oxidising agents.
HAZCHEM: None
Personal Protective Equipment

Section 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
MINOR SPILLS
Small quantities may be discharged to sewer with a large excess of water.
Clean up all spills immediately. Wear impervious gloves and safety glasses.
Wipe up and absorb small quantities with vermiculite or other absorbent material. Place in suitable containers for disposal.
Suitable containers are those specified in storage section.
MAJOR SPILLS
Restrict access to area. DO NOT touch the spill material.
Wear full body protective clothing
Isolate leaking containers and stop leak if safe to do so.
Absorb or cover spill with sand, earth, inert material or vermiculite.
Collect residues and place in labelled polyethylene bag.
Flood with an 5% solution of sodium hypochlorite plus 5% sodium
bicarbonate solution. Allow 20 minutes contact time. (Minimum recommended
ratio of decontaminant to product is 4:1).
Flush to sewer with copious quantities of water.
Personal Protective Equipment advice is contained in Section 8 of the MSDS.
Section 7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE
PROCEDURE FOR HANDLING
DO NOT allow clothing wet with material to stay in contact with skin.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use good occupational work practice.
Wear personal protective equipment when handling.
When handling, DO NOT eat, drink or smoke.
Use in a well-ventilated area.
Keep containers securely sealed when not in use.
Wash hands with soap and water after handling.
Work clothes should be laundered separately: NOT at home.
SUITABLE CONTAINER
鈥? Polyethylene or polypropylene container.
鈥? Packing as recommended by manufacturer.
STORAGE INCOMPATIBILITY
Avoid storage with oxidisers and alkalies.
STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
Observe manufacturer's storing and handling recommendations.
Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.
Store at temperature below 40 deg C. 鈥? Protect from heat. Keep cool.
DO NOT use unlined steel containers.
Keep containers securely sealed . Check regularly for spills and leaks.
