How to use
ARDVOS Wood Oil No. 266
Wood Preparation
Wood must be dry, solid, able to absorb, finely sanded (floors 180 grain, furniture 240 grain),
clean, and free of resin and dust. For large-pored woods (oak, ash, chestnut, elm, mahogany, or
teak), brush out pore grooves carefully. A test coat is recommended for woods containing tannic
acid or dye. Glue and other adhesives must be absolutely dry.
Application
Depending upon requirements and absorbency: 1 - 3 coats with a drying time of 12 - 24 hours
between coats.
After approximately 20 - 30 minutes remove unabsorbed oil with a lint-free cloth, to assure an
even gloss and equal surface drying conditions.
Products suitable for subsequent treatment: BILO Floor Wax No. 303; BEKOS Furniture Wax
No. 312 or BIVOS Oil Wax No. 375.
In splash-prone and moist areas, and on wooden counter tops, use only ARDVOS Universal
Wood Oil No. 266 without a subsequent wax coating.
For OSB-boards, follow instructions for wood surface preparation and application. Apply 3 coats
OSB
sparingly. The removal of excess oil may prove difficult because of the wood-strand structure.
For coloration: 1 coat KALDET Transparent Wood Stain No. 270
3 coats ARDVOS Universal Wood Oil No. 266
Pore-clogging old coatings (oil-based paint, lacquers, coating varnishes) as well as wax coatings
Furniture renovation
must be removed by sanding or stripping until there is no old residue, the surface must be solid,
absorbent, clean, and free of dust. Open-pored old coatings must be cleaned and, if necessary,
sanded, and must be tested for absorbency and ability to take a new coating. Pay close attention
during treatment to spot potential problems.
Maintenance should be done according to wear, about 1-2 times annually. Rub or polish a thin
Care
coat of ARDVOS up. Use a recommended Livos cleaner.
Stir thoroughly. Skim off film. Apply a test coat! Ventilate well during application and drying!
Important tips
Because of insufficient supply of oxygen and light, cabinet interiors treated with products
containing linseed oil often experience drying delays, causing a long-lasting odor of linseed oil.
Products more suitable for this purpose are shellac-High Gloss or Satin Gloss (LANDIS No. 701
/ BELOS No. 706), GORMOS Wax Oil No. 267 or KALDET Transparent Wood Stain No. 270.
Saturate thoroughly with Wood Oil to prevent stains and spots caused by water.
On oak wood and other woods containing incompatibilities such as tannic acid or dyes, or wood
that has been sanded, stripped, pre-treated, or stained it is possible that discoloration may
appear within a week (for glued cross-cut wood, observe a treated test area for two days,
because the glue may dissolve). Surfaces treated with ARDVOS should be cleaned using LIVOS
products such as TRENA Neutral Cleaner, avoid micro fibre or similar materials.
Fine sanding reduces the quantity of Ardvos required. This also reduces the tendency of 鈥榳ear
and tear鈥? and soiling of the surface.
