HCN (Almond), beige or green colour. Solubility in water: Coated pellet - insoluble *Core solubility - @
25掳C 72g/100g. Solubility in solvents: Coated pellet is insoluble in most common solvents (eg alcohol,
petrol & oils). Reactions: Coated pellet is relatively inert. KCN core - reacts on contact with acids (even
CO2) toxic HCN gas is formed, which may form explosive mixtures with air.

2.3 INGREDIENTS: Ingredients CAS No Percentage Potassium Cyanide 151-50-8 not less than 50%
Other inert ingredients determined not to be hazardous to 100%

3.0 HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION: The coated pellet is safe to handle provided it is unbroken

3.1 HEALTH EFFECTS: The following information pertains to the core material only: CAN BE FATAL IF
SWALLOWED AND CAN HAVE LONG TERM CHRONIC EFFECTS

3.2 (CYANOSIS) - DO NOT GET IN EYES, SKIN OR CLOTHING. AFTER CONTACT WITH SKIN, WASH
IMMEDIATELY WITH PLENTY OF WATER. EXPOSURE CAN CAUSE HEADACHE, DIZZINESS, NAUSEA,
VOMITING, LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS AND WEAKNESS. CONTACT WITH ACIDS LIBERATES VERY
TOXIC GAS.

3.3 FIRST AID: Broken pellets only

Swallowed: If victim is rapidly losing consciousness, is unconscious or convulsing do not give anything
by mouth. Have the victim rinse mouth thoroughly with water. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. If vomiting
occurs naturally, rinse mouth and repeat administering water. Refer general information.

Eye: Immediately flush the contaminated eye(s) with lukewarm gently flowing water for 20 minutes, by
the clock, holding the eyelid(s) open. Take care not to rinse contaminated water into the non-affected
eye. Use anti-histamine eye drops.

Skin: Avoid contact with this chemical. Wear impervious gloves if possible. Flush-contaminated area
with lukewarm water for 20 minutes - under running water remove all contaminated clothing.
Completely decontaminate all articles before reuse or discard. Refer general comments below.

Inhaled: Take proper precautions to ensure your own safety before attempting rescue; i.e., wear
appropriate protective equipment, use the 'buddy' system. Remove source of contamination or move
victim to fresh air. Break open capsule of Amyl nitrite to aid revival. Refer general comments below.

Other first aid: OBTAIN IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION!

*Serious to very serious poisoning (Patient unconscious, breathing has stopped, possible inclination to
convulse)

鈥? immediately call an ambulance, using keyword "cyanide poisoning"
鈥? prepare patient against heat loss
鈥? prepare infusion: 5ml ampoule 4-DMAP1 & 50ml 25% Sodium thiosulphate. - No mouth to
mouth/or nose to mouth! Administer "oxygen therapy" if breathing has stopped or
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if heart has stopped.

3.4 ADVICE TO DOCTORS:

Mild poisoning (Patient conscious, breathing regular): Keep the patient under observation for some
time. No specific antidote necessary, administer oxygen. If general condition worsens, slowly inject 10ml
25% sodium thiosulphate solution intravenously. Use Amyl Nitrate vials as per directions.

Serious poisoning (Patient unconscious, breathing irregular): Slowly inject 50ml sodium thiosulphate
intravenously through the needle already in position.

Very serious poisoning (Inclination to convulse, unconsciousness, dyspnea, breathing has stopped):
Treat with 50ml of 25% sodium thiosulphate intravenously as above. Apply artificial respiration and /or
CPR.

Oral poisoning: If the patient is unconscious, insert tube and evacuate the stomach.

4.0 ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Awareness for any Toxic Substance

4.1 PERSONAL PROTECTION:

IN DISTRIBUTION AREAS; Have appropriate equipment available for emergency use, i.e.; fire and
spills, ensure staff are aware of safe handling and emergency procedures - have suitable First Aid Kits
available.

Protective Equipment; Self-contained breathing apparatus, resistant clothing.
