HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Potential Health Effects
Skin contact may cause irritation with itching, burning,
redness, swelling, rash, or blister formation, especially
with prolonged or repeated contact. Solvent Naphtha has been
infrequently associated with skin sensitization in humans.
Frostbite may occur from skin contact with liquid propane
and isobutane.
Eye contact may cause eye irritation with discomfort,
tearing, pain or blurring of vision.
Inhalation may cause irritation of the nose and throat with
sneezing, sore throat or runny nose. Inhalation or
ingestion may cause nonspecific effects such as headache,
nausea, and weakness.
Higher or prolonged exposures may cause central nervous
system depression with dizziness, confusion, incoordination,
drowsiness or unconsciousness; eye irritation with tearing,
pain, or blurred vision; temporary alteration of the heart's
electrical activity with irregular pulse, palpitations, or
inadequate circulation, or pulmonary edema (body fluid in
the lungs) with cough, wheezing, abnormal lung sounds,
possibly progressing to severe shortness of breath and
bluish discoloration of the skin. Symptoms may be delayed.
Inhaling concentrated vapors intentionally or otherwise can
cause organ damage or can be fatal. Fatal if swallowed.
The major ingestion hazard is aspiration (liquid entering
the lungs during ingestion or vomiting) which may result in
"chemical pneumonia". Symptoms include coughing, gasping,
choking, shortness of breath, bluish discoloration of the
skin, rapid breathing and heart rate, and fever. Pulmonary
edema or bleeding, drowsiness, confusion, coma and seizures
may occur in more serious cases. Symptoms may develop
immediately or as late as 24 hours after exposure, depending
on how much chemical entered the lungs.
Inhalation of fluorine compounds released as decomposition
products above 290 degC (554 degF) may cause lung irritation
and pulmonary edema which require medical treatment.
Inhalation of fumes or smoke from overheated or burning
grease may cause polymer fume fever, a temporary flu-like
illness accompanied by fever, chills, and sometimes cough,
of approximately 24 hours duration. Repeated episodes of
polymer fume fever may cause lung damage.

equal to or greater than 0.1% are listed by IARC, NTP, OSHA or ACGIH
as a carcinogen.

FIRST AID MEASURES
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First Aid
INHALATION
If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give
artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Call a physician.
SKIN CONTACT
In case of contact, immediately wash skin with soap and water.
Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
EYE CONTACT
In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water
for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician.
INGESTION
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Immediately give 2 glasses
of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Call a physician.
Notes to Physicians
Because of the danger of aspiration, emesis or gastric lavage
should not be employed unless the risk is justified by the
presence of additional toxic substances. Activated charcoal may
be given but should be used with caution since it may induce
vomiting.
Activated charcoal mixture may be beneficial. Suspend 50 g
activated charcoal in 400 mL water and mix well. Administer 5
mL/kg, or 350 mL for an average adult.
Because of possible disturbances of cardiac rhythm, catecholamine
drugs, such as epinephrine, should only be used with special
caution in situations of emergency life support.

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Flammable Properties
Flash Point : 0 F (-18 C)
Extremely flammable.
The product decomposes at temperatures greater than 290
degC. Toxic fumes may be released from decomposition or
combustion. Exposure to direct sunlight or other heat may
cause containers to burst.
Extinguishing Media
Water Spray, Foam, Dry Chemical, CO2.
Fire Fighting Instructions
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective
equipment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Safeguards (Personnel)
NOTE: Review FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES and HANDLING (PERSONNEL)
sections before proceeding with clean-up. Use appropriate
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT during clean-up.
Ventilate spill area. Eliminate all sources of ignition - heat,
sparks, flame, electricity, impact and friction.
Initial Containment
Dike spill.
Spill Clean Up
Soak up with sand, oil dry, or other noncombustible absorbent
materials.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
HANDLING AND STORAGE
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Handling (Personnel)
Avoid inhalation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing.
