Potential Health Effects:

Contact with dust or granular material causes eye irritation or burns.

Contact with dust may irritate skin.

Inhaling dust may cause irritation to breathing passages and lung damage if exposure is

repeated or prolonged.

Ingestion causes no adverse effects.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer has determined that there is inadequate

evidence of carcinogenicity to humans and experimental animals (Group 3). However, this

component, like other naturally occurring minerals contains crystalline silica. Crystalline

silica has been classified by the National Toxicity Program as reasonably anticipated to be

carcinogenic. Inhaled quartz or crisobalite have been classified as carcinogenic to humans

(Group 1)



Chronic Health Effects: NIOSH has studied the exposure effects of a clay component of this

product, which contains the crystalline silica, on pulmonary function and has determined

there is no evidence of significant respiratory morbidity. However, crystalline silica may itself

cause disabling, progressive, pulmonary fibrosis characterized by coughing, dyspnea,

wheezing and impairment of pulmonary function.



Signs of Exposure: Temporary coughing or sneezing, dryness of nose and throat. Redness,

burning or tearing upon eye contact. Irritation of skin. Gastrointestinal irritation if swallowed.



Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated By Exposure: May aggravate pre-existing medical

conditions such as asthma and inflammatory or fibrotic lung disease.



First Aid Measures:



Eye Contact: Flush eyes with cool clean water. Get medical attention if irritation persists.



Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water. If irritation develops, get medical attention.



Inhalation: Remove affected individuals to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be

administered by qualified personnel. Get medical attention.



Ingestion: Get medical attention. If vomiting occurs, keep the head lower than the hips to

prevent aspiration.

            Section VII-PRECAUTIONS FOR HANDLING AND STORAGE



Steps To Be Taken If Material Is Spilled Or Released:

Sweep or vacuum up spilled material, if uncontaminated, and return to container. Wear

respiratory protection, and avoid creating dust during cleanup. Contaminated material

should be collected and placed in a container to await proper disposal. If the contaminated

material is deemed hazardous, observe proper handling precautions for the hazardous

substance.



Waste Disposal Methods:

Dispose of contaminated material in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

Contact a licensed hazardous waste contractor for proper disposal if the product is

contaminated with a hazardous substance.



Handling And Storage:

Store in a dry place. Keep containers closed when not in use. Practice good housekeeping.

Wash hands after handling. Avoid smoking in dusty areas. Wash or vacuum clothing that is

contaminated with dust. Keep out of reach of children. Dispose of empty containers

properly. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid contact with eyes. Use only with adequate ventilation.

Respiratory Protection:

Use a dust/mist filter for nuisance dust. For dust concentrations above the TLV, use a

NIOSH/MSMA approved respirator as necessary.



Ventilation:

Use local exhaust ventilation as necessary to control any air contaminants within their TLV

or PEL during the use of this product.



Eye Protection:

Wear safety glasses or goggles as necessary to minimize eye contact.
