3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: A clear, colorless liquid (solid below 25?C) with an aromatic, camphor-like odor. Severe eye and
respiratory tract irritant. May be absorbed through the skin resulting in systemic effects. Do not breathe vapors and avoid
contact with the skin. Combustible.
POTENTIAL HEALTH HAZARDS
Prolonged contact may cause irritation and bums. Can be absorbed through the skin causing
SKIN:
systemic effects similar to inhalation.
EYES: Severe irritant.
Irritant to eyes, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Prolonged exposure to high
INHALATION: concentrations can cause headaches, nausea, tremors, incoordination and unconsciousness.
At high concentrations, respiratory depression possibly resulting in death may occur.
INGESTION: Produces systemic effects similar to inhalation of high concentrations. Overall toxicity is low.
DELAYED EFFECTS: May cause kidney and liver effects (test on animals). Not considered mutagenic.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
IN CASE OF SPILL OR OTHER RELEASE (Always wear recommended personal protective equipment):
Eliminate ignition sources. Use water spray to dilute spills to a nonflammable mixture. Contain liquid with dirt, sand,
vermiculite or other noncombustible solids. Transfer to a metal container for disposal. Do not allow spills to enter drains,
sewers or waterways.
Spills and releases may have to be reported to Federal and/or local authorities. See Section 15 regarding
reporting requirements. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
NORMAL HANDLING (Always wear recommended personal protective equipment): Wear personal protective
equipment. Avoid contact with skin. Do not breathe vapors.
STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS: Store in a dry, well-ventilated area away from sources of ignition. Keep away from
oxidizing agents, nitric acid and other combustibles.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
ENGINEERING CONTROLS: General mechanical ventilation with local exhaust at product transfer/use areas, sufficient to
keep levels below exposure limits.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Neoprene gloves and work clothing (long sleeved shirt and trousers). Add
SKIN PROTECTION:
acid resistant jacket and pants if splashing or liquid contact is anticipated.
EYE PROTECTION: Chemical safety goggles or faceshield.
None required for adequately ventilated work places. For large spills, wear
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: self-contained breathing apparatus. A full face respirator with organic
cartridge may be used if vapor concentrations are under 1000 ppm.
ADDITIONAL Safety shower and eyewash are recommended.
