ROUTESOF EXPOSURE:
Inhalation: Asphyxiant. It should be noted that before suffocation could occur, the lower flamrnability limit of propane in
air would be exceeded, possibly causingboth an oxygen-deficient and explosiveatmosphere. Exposure to concenradons
>107omay causedizziness.Exposureto atmospheres containing8%o-l\Vo lessoxygen will bring about unconsciousness
or
without warning, and so quickly that the intlividualscannothelp or protectthemselves. Lack of sufficient oxygen may cause
serious injury or death.

Eye Contact: Contact with liquid can causefreezing of tissue.
Skin Contach Contact with liquid can causetrostbite.
[Skin Absorptionl: None.
[Ingestionl: Liquid can causefreeze burn similar to frostbite. Ingestion not exp鈧琧tedto occur in norma] use.
CHRONIC EFFECTS: None.

OTIDR EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE: None.
CARCINOGENICITY: Propane not listed by NTB OSHA or IARC.

INHALATION: Personssuffering from lack of oxygen should be removed to fresh air. If victim is not breathing, administer
artiltcial respiration. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. Obtain prompt medical attention.
EYE CONTACT: Contact with liquid cim causefreezing of tissue.Gently flush eyes with lukewarm water.
Obtain medical attention immediately.
SKIN CONTACT: Contactwith liquid car caus鈧琭rostbite.Removesaturated clothes, shoesand jewelry. Immerseallccted

SPECIAL FIRE-FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS: B,vacuate pcnonnel from dangeriuea-Immediatelycool containerwith
water spray from maximum distance, taking care not to extinguish flames. If flames are accidentally extinguished, expltlsivc
re-ignition may occur. Where water is abundantand immediate, tie hrc should be allowed to burn while the container and area
are cooled and the flow of propane is shut off. Where water is scarce, compare tie risk of allowing the area to continue to heat
from the lre and the alternative of extinguishing the fire without shutting off the propine flow, which may allow fbr the
propaneto accumulate and re-igniteexplosively.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Propaneis easily ignited. It is heavierthan air; theretbre,it can collect in
low areaswhere an ignition sourcecan be present. Pressurein a container can build up due to heat and container may rupture
if pressurerelief devices should fail to function. Propanereleasedtiom a properly functioning relief valve on an overheated
container can also become ignited.
HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: None.

STEPS TO BE TAKEN IF MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED: Evacuate the immediate area-Eliminate any
possible sourcesof ignition and provide maximum vcnlilation. Shut off source of propane,if possible. If leaking from
container,or valve, contact your supplier.

IIANDLING PR-ECAUTIONS: Propanevapor is heavier than air and can collect in low areasthat euewithout sufficient
ventilation. Leak-check system with a leak detector or solution, never with flame. Make certain the container service valve is
shut off prior to connecting or disconnecting. If container valve does not operate properly, discontinue use and contact supplier
Never insert an object (e.g. wrench, screwdriver, pry bar, etc.) into pressurerelief valve or cylinder valve cap openings. Do not
drop or abusecylinders. Never strike an arc on a gas container or make a container part of an electrical circuit.
See"16. OTfmR INFORMATION' for additionalprecaurions.,
STORAGE PRECAUTIONS: Store in a safe, authorizedlocation (ouside, detachedstrorage preferred) witi adequate
is
ventilation. Specitic requirementsare listed in NFPA 58, Standardfor the Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gases.
Isolate from beat and ignition sources.Containersshould never be atlowed to reach temperanre exceeding 125" F (52" C).
Isolate from combustible materials. Provide separatestoragelocations for other compressedand flammable gases.Propane
containersshould be separatedfrom oxygen cylinders, or other oxidizers, by a minimum distance of 20 feet, or by a barrier of
non relief valve in vapor space.Do not drop or abusecylinders.
Store cylinders in upright position, or with pressure
segregated.
Keep container valve closed and plugged or cappedwhen not in use. Install protective caps when cylinders are not connected
for use. Empty containersretain some residue and should b鈧? treatedas if they were full.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS
Ventilation: Provide ventilation adequateto ensurepropanedoes not reach a flammable mixtue.

RESPTRATORY PROTECTION (SpECrI'r TypE)
General Use: None.
Emergency Use: If concentrationsare high enough to warrant supplied-air or self-containedbreathing apparatus, ttren the
aunospheremay be flammable (See Section 5). Appropriate precautionsmust be trken regarding flammability.

PROTECTM CLOTHING: Avoid skin contactwith liquid propancbecausc possibility of freezeburn. Wear gloves and
of
protective clothing which are impervious to the product for the duration of the anticipated exposure.

EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses rccommended

An odorant (ethyl mercaptan)has been added to provide a srong unpleasantodor. Should a
propane-air mixture reach the lower limifs of flammability, the ethyl mercaptanconcentration
will be approximately 0.5 ppm in air.

ODORANT WARNING: Odorant is addett to aid in the detectionof leaks. One common odorant is ethyl mercaptan,CAS
No. 75-08-01. Odorant has a foul smell. The ability of people to detect odors varies widely. A]so, certain chemical reactions
with material in tie propane system, or fugitive propanegas from undergroundleaks passing through certain soils, can
reduce the odor level. No odorant will be 100% effective in all circumstrnces. If o supplier immediately.
