SECTION 3: HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW:
Blue liquid packaged as an aerosol with solvent odor. Very Flammable Liquid. May cause eye, skin and respiratory
irritation, headache, dizziness, nausea and long-term effects. Contains toluene which is known to cause reproductive
toxicity.
ACUTE HEALTH HAZARDS:
EYE CONTACT: May cause irritation.
SKIN CONTACT: Prolonged or repeated contact may cause irritation.
INHALATION: Overexposure may cause eye and respiratory irritation. May cause central nervous system
depression with symptoms of headache, dizziness, nausea and confusion. Extreme overexposure may cause
unconsciousness and death.
INGESTION: May cause gastrointestinal irritation and nervous system effects. Aspiration during vomiting may
cause pulmonary edema which can be fatal.
CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS: Prolonged overexposure may cause adverse effects to the liver, urinary, blood-
forming, cardio-vascular and reproductive systems. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational
overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Rats exposed to titanium dioxide dust at
250 mg/m3 developed lung cancer, however, such exposure levels are far above those normally associated with
workplace exposures.
CARCINOGEN STATUS: Carbon black is listed as a carcinogen or suspected carcinogen by IARC.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Pre-existing skin, liver, kidney, heart and
respiratory disorders may be aggravated by exposure.
SEE SECTION 11 - TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION FOR ADDITIONAL DATA
SECTION 4: FIRST AID
EYE CONTACT: Flush thoroughly with copious amounts of running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT: Wash well with soap and water, remove contaminated clothing and launder before re-use. Get
medical attention if irritation develops.
INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air. Give artificial respiration if needed. Get immediate medical attention.
INGESTION: Do not give anything by mouth to anyone who is unconscious or convulsing. Keep victim quiet and
at rest. DO NOT induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention.
SECTION 5: FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA
FLASH POINT: 35掳F TEST METHOD: N/AV
AUTOIGNITION TEMPERATURE: Not available
FLAMMABLE LIMITS: LEL: 0.7% UEL: 13.1%
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use foam, carbon dioxide or dry chemical. Cool exposed containers with water.
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Firefighters should wear NIOSH approved positive pressure self
contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. Cool exposed containers to prevent possible autoignition
or explosion.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Extremely flammable! Containers may explode if exposed to
temperatures above 120掳F. Application to hot surfaces requires special precautions. Decomposition products may
be toxic, symptoms may not be immediately apparent.
HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride.

SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Remove all sources of ignition and ventilate area. Wear appropriate protective equipment. Contain spill and collect
with absorbent. Notify authorities as required.
SECTION 7: HANDLING AND STORAGE
WORK PRACTICES: Avoid contact with the eyes, skin or clothing. Avoid breathing mists or vapors. Wash hands
thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Keep containers closed and away from excessive heat and sources of ignition. Empty
containers retain residues and may be hazardous. Follow all recommended precautions.
STORAGE: Flammable, store in a cool, dry place away from oxidizers, excessive heat, sources of ignition, direct
sunlight. Store below 120 F. Follow OSHA 1910.106 in regard to storage of flammable liquids.
SECTION 8: EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
VENTILATION: General or local exhaust as needed to maintain the concentrations of all contaminants below their
respective exposure limits and the mixture limit. Use explosion-proof equipment.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: If needed wear NIOSH approved organic vapor respirator with dust/mist pre-
filter or supplied air respirator.
GLOVES: Viton, nitrile or polyvinyl alcohol gloves if needed to prevent prolonged/repeated skin contact.
EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses with side shields or chemical safety goggles.
OTHER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Protective coveralls or apron if contact is likely to keep personal clothing
clean. Eye wash facility should be available in the work area.
SECTION 9: PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
APPEARANCE AND ODOR: Blue liquid packaged as an aerosol with solvent odor. The lowest reported odor
threshold is for toluene: 0.16 ppm
