3.0 Hazard Identification
Evans Blue ?May cause harm to the unborn child.
Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed.
Possible carcinogen
The mounting media must be treated with care and gloves should be worn when handling.
All other components of this product contain substances that are either non hazardous or at
concentrations below that requiring the issue of an individual specific Material Safety Data
Sheet. However, general safety precautions should be observed and appropriate procedures
used to prevent direct contact with the eyes or skin and to prevent inhalation.
4.0 First Aid Measures
Eyes: Flush with water for at least 15 minutes.
Skin: Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while
removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Ingestion: Wash mouth out with water. Call a physician
Inhalation: Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately.
Note: If symptoms persist seek medical advice.
5.0 Fire Fighting Measures
As in any fire wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective gear. During a
fire irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or
combustion. Use appropriate extinguishers when fire fighting.
6.0 Accidental Release Measure
Clean up area and wash with water and an appropriate cleaning agent. Use appropriate
personal protective equipment (see section 8).
7.0 Handling & Storage
Any material which is of human origin has been tested at donor level and found negative
for hepatitis B surface antigen (HbsAG), antibodies to HIV1 and 2 and HCV. However,
these tests cannot guarantee the absence of infective agents and full safety precautions
should be taken as in the handling of any potentially infective body fluid. Only personnel
adequately trained in such methods should be permitted to perform the procedures.

Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use.
Avoid ingestion and inhalation.
Equipment should be regularly cleaned as per manufacturers instructions, particularly prior
to maintenance or repair.
8.0 Exposure Controls, Personal Protection
Where appropriate use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to control airborne
levels.
Protective laboratory clothing should be worn along with other suitable protection (eg
gloves) if appropriate Protective gloves should be worn when handling the mounting
media and Evans Blue.

Some of the components of this kit contain sodium azide & must be handled with caution ?br>
Explosive metal azides may be formed with lead or copper plumbing; on disposal of
reagent, flush with a large volume of water to prevent azide build up.
