HEALTH EFFECTS
ACUTE
SWALLOWED Causes burns to the mouth, throat and stomach. Can cause nausea,
difficulty in breathing, shock, acidosis and collapse.
EYE The liquid is severely irritating to the eyes and may burn eye tissue.
SKIN The liquid causes irritation or burns, dryness and cracking. Dermatitis
may occur from prolonged exposure.
INHALED Causes irritation or burns to the respiratory system.
CHRONIC Prolonged exposure may cause bronchitis, pneumonia and pulmonary
oedema.
FIRST AID:
SWALLOWED If swallowed, give a glass of water. Do not induce vomiting. Lean victim
forward to reduce the risk of aspiration. Never give drink to unconscious
person. Seek medical advice. For further advice call Poisons Information
Centre.
EYE Hold eyes open & flood with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
immediate medical advice.
SKIN Remove contaminated clothing and wash area with soap and water. Seek
medical aid if irritation occurs.
INHALED Remove person to fresh air. Lay patient down and keep warm. If
breathing is shallow, apply oxygen and seek medical aid.
FIRST AID FACILITIES Where bodily contact may occur, an eye wash station & safety shower or
supply of clean water should be readily available.
ADVICE TO DOCTOR Treat symptomatically.

FIRE HAZARDS: Aqueous solution not subject to fire or explosion. If present in a fire
situation may evolve fumes of hydrochloric acid, oxides of carbon.
SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
STORAGE AND TRANSPORT: Store in accordance with all Commonwealth, State or Territory
Regulations relevant to class 8. Transport with the D.G. class 8
SPILLS AND DISPOSAL: Wear personal protective clothing as recommended above. Large spills
can be neutralized with limestone, hydrated lime, or caustic soda. Place
in a suitable inert container for waste disposal. Dispose of in accordance
with relevant local regulations. Prevent entry into sewers or drains.
FIRE/EXPLOSION HAAZARD: Liberates toxic fumes or hydrogen chloride and phosphorus oxides.
FIRE FIGHTING Fire 璮ighters and others exposed to the products of combustion should
