EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
CAUTION: Sawing, sanding, drilling, or routing this product may generate wood dust. Dust can be irritating to
the eyes, skin, and respiratory system.

3. Hazards Identification
Likely Routes of Exposure: Skin contact, eye contact, and inhalation.
Potential Health Effects:
Eye ?Not applicable under normal conditions of use. Exposure to dust may cause mechanical irritation of eyes, if cutting
or sanding the product.
Skin ?Not applicable under normal conditions of use. Dust and fibers from cutting or sanding may produce itching, rash
and redness.
Ingestion Hazards ?Not applicable under normal conditions of use. May result in internal discomfort or ill effects if large
quantities of dust are swallowed while cutting or sanding.
Inhalation hazards ?Exposure to wood dust generated during cutting or sanding of the product may cause irritation to
nose, throat and upper respiratory system. Pre-existing upper respiratory and lung diseases may be aggravated.
Persons subjected to large amounts of dust will be forced to leave area because of nuisance conditions such as
coughing, sneezing and nasal irritation. Labored breathing may occur after excessive inhalation.
Medical Conditions Aggravated By Exposure: When cutting or sanding the product, the generated dust and fibers
may aggravate preexisting skin, eye, and respiratory conditions.

Target Organs: Skin, eyes and respiratory system

4. First Aid Measures
Eye Contact: Not applicable under normal use. When dust is generated, gaseous formaldehyde may cause temporary
irritation or a temporary burning sensation. Wood, lead, or fiber dust(s) may cause mechanical irritation. Treat dust in eye
as foreign object. Flush with water for 15 minutes to remove dust particles. Get medical help if irritation persists.
Skin Contact: Not applicable under normal use. When dust is generated, gaseous formaldehyde may cause allergic
contact dermatitis in sensitized individuals resulting in redness, itching, and occasionally, hives. Wood dust(s) of certain
species may elicit allergic contact dermatitis in sensitized individuals, as well as mechanical irritation resulting in hives.
Get medical help if rash, irritation or dermatitis occurs.
Ingestion: Not applicable under normal use.
Inhalation: Not applicable under normal use. When dust is generated, gaseous formaldehyde may cause temporary
irritation to the nose and throat. Wood, lead, or fiber dust(s) may cause unpleasant obstruction in the nasal passages,
resulting in dryness of nose, dry cough, sneezing, and headaches. Remove to fresh air. Get medical help if persistent
irritation, severe coughing or breathing difficulty occurs. Remove to fresh air. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

5. Fire Fighting Measures
Flash Point: 399.2癋
Flammability Class: Combustible.
Flammability Limits:
LEL: See below under " Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards"
UEL: N/A
Products of Combustion: carbon dioxide and some metallic oxides.
Unusual Fire And Explosion Hazards: Depending on moisture content and more importantly, particle diameter, wood
dust may explode in the presence of an ignition source. An airborne concentration of 40 grams (40,000 mg) of dust per
cubic meter of air is often used as the LEL for wood dust. When heated to decomposition, it emits highly toxic fumes of
lead.
Extinguishing Media: Water, carbon dioxide, sand, dry chemical.
Fire Fighting Instructions: Water can be used to cool and protect exposed material. Firefighters should wear full
protective clothing including self contained breathing apparatus.

6. Accidental Release Measures
?Not applicable for product in purchased form. Dust generated from sawing, sanding, drilling, or routing this product
may be vacuumed or shoveled for recovery or disposal. Avoid dusty conditions and provide good ventilation.
?A NIOSH approved full-face respirator or half-mask respirator with chemical goggles should be worn when the
formaldehyde and/or wood dust allowable exposure limits may be exceeded. It is recommended that the full-face
and half-mask respirators have a combination formaldehyde and dust cartridge.

7. Handling And Storage
Handling And Storage Precautions
?Always store on edge or standing up, never lie flat.
?Handle with care as damage can be expensive.
?Product is heavy; always lift using correct lift assist equipment.
?Keep in cool, dry place away from open flame.
?This product may release small quantities of gaseous formaldehyde.
?Store in a well ventilated area.

8. Exposure Control/Personal Protection

Engineering Controls: Always utilize correct lift assist equipment.
Eye/Face Protection: Not applicable for product in purchased form. Goggles or safety glasses and dust masks are
recommended when machining this product and in areas with high dust levels.
Skin Protection: Not applicable for product in purchased form. Outer garments may be desirable in extremely dusty
areas.
Respiratory Protection: Not applicable for product in purchased form. A NIOSH approved respirator is recommended
when allowable exposure limits may be exceeded.
