TLV - 0.1 mg (Hg)/ m3.
4. n,n-dimethylformamide (in substrate solution); CAS#: 68-12-2; OSHA PEL: 30 mg/ m3; ACGIH TLV - 10 ppm with Skin A4
and BEI notations.
5. 3,3',5,5' tetramethylbenzidine (in substrate solution); CAS#: 54827-17-7.
6. Gentamicin sulfate in sample diluent and conjugate diluent; CAS#: 1405-41-0
7. Rabbit serum: Potential Biohazard

4. Hazards
Gentamicin-Sulfate with which Sample Diluent is formulated is very toxic. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.
Thimerosal with which Sample Diluent and standards are formulated is very toxic.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.
Human Serum with which standards are formulated could be infectious. The human serum has been tested and found nonreactive
for HIV-1 and Hepatitis B surface antigen. However, no known test method can offer assurance that products derived from human
serum will not be infectious.

Animal origin Serum with which antibodies are formulated could be infectious. No known test method can offer assurance that
products derived from animals will not be infectious.

5. Toxikology/health effects
Occupational exposure to this product is not expected to produce adverse human health effects following prudent workplace
practices. Contact with skin or eyes may produce irritation or burns. Wash with plenty of water and seek medical advice if irritation
develops.
If swallowed, wash mouth with water and seek medical advice.
The stop solution is a poison and cause severe burns. The oral LD50 (rat) for sulfuric acid is 2140 mg/kg. The oral LD50 (rat) for
n,ndimethylformamide is 2800 mg/kg. It is not classified by NTP as a carcinogen; however it is classified by IARC as Category 3
(unclassifiable as to carcinogenicity to humans). 3,3',5,5'- tetramethylbenzidine may cause skin and eye irritation.

6. First aid
Route of Entry: Inhalation, ingestion and skin contact.
Emergency and First Aid Procedures:
Ingestion
If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Call a physician or poison control.
Skin Contact
Flush with copious amounts of water and wash with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and
shoes. Call a physician if irritation or discomfort develops.
Inhalation
Remove victim to fresh air. If breathing becomes difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, administer artificial respiration. Call a
physician.
Eye Contact
Flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Check for and remove contact lenses. Assure adequate flushing by
separating the eyelids. Call a physician. If medical attention is required, provide product label and/or MSDS.

7. Fire and explosion hazard data
Condition: No fire or explosion hazards. Packaging material will burn in a fire.

Extinguishing Media: Use standard fire fighting procedures depending on the source of the surrounding fire.

8. Reactivivty data
Incompatibilities: The stop solution is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, alkalis, metals, strong reducing agents and many
other reactive
substances.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur.
Conditions to Avoid: This product is stable. If involved in a fire, poisonous gas may be produced by the packaging material and the
stop solution may release oxides of sulfur.
Hazardous Decomposition or Byproducts: This product is stable. If involved in a fire, poisonous gas may be produced by the
packaging materials. The stop solution will produce oxides of sulfur and hydrogen.

9. Precauitons for safe handling
General: Read the package insert. The controls are derived from human source material, and normal laboratory precautions should
be taken for handling such material. Always follow good laboratory practices when using this product. Employee exposure to human
source material is regulated under the Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1910.1030.
