2F and 75WSP
Application Guide
This application guide has been developed to help you acheive success and pre-
dictable results with Xytect. We have provided step-by-step instructions.
If you have issues, concerns, or questions please call our toll-free number.

Before Applying Xytect About Xytect
Be certain to read ALL the instructions covered in this 1. This application guide covers the 2F (liquid) and
application guide, the product label, and read the 75WSP (water soluble packet) formulations.
MSDS. As with any product, proper usage is critical to
your success. If you have any questions, please call 2. Xytect is dosed based on trunk size (DBH). See
our toll-free technical support line. Determining DBH on Page 3 for instructions on
measuring trees.

Xytect Formulations
Xytect 2F and 75WSP can both be applied by foliar spray or soil drench/soil injection application. The main differ-
ence between the two formulations is user preference. Xytect 75WSP can be mixed in large quantities for a ready-
to-use solution while Xytect 2F is convenient for dosing trees on an individual basis.

What Insects Does Xytect Control?
Xytect is a broad spectrum insecticide with efficacy against many species of insects. It is not effective on Arachnids (mites
and spiders) or most Lepidopteran (moth and butterfly) larvae. Call Rainbow Treecare Scientific if you have questions
regarding a specific pest management protocol. Xytect is labeled for efficacy on these key pests:

Measure Tree Diameter at Breast Height (DBH)
Xytect dosage is determined by measuring the diameter of a tree at breast height (DBH). The DBH is a standard
measurement of a tree鈥檚 diameter at 4鈥?6鈥? above the soil. Measure the DBH of a tree with a diameter tape (D-Tape).
If using a standard measuring tape divide the measurement by 3.14 to get the diameter.

Compatibility with other Chemicals
鈥? Xytect 2F and Xytect 75WSP insecticides are compatible with many commonly used fungicides, miticides,
liquid fertilizers, and other insecticides. If tank mixing Xytect with a product for the first time, check physical
compatibility by using the correct proportions of each product in a small jar test.

鈥? Do not use Xytect 75WSP packets in a tank mix with other products that contain boron or release free
chlorine. The resultant reaction forms a plastic which is not soluble in water or solvents such as kerosene,
gasoline, or alcohol. Do not use the Xytect 75WSP packets directly in diesel oils or horticultural oils because
they are not oil-soluble.

鈥? Use of chlorinated water is acceptable.

鈥? Whenever Xytect is to be tank-mixed into any solution containing a liquid fertilizer, the user should completely
dissolve the Xytect first before adding the fertilizer.

鈥? Do not apply through any irrigation system.

Additives
When spraying the foliage of hard to wet species such as holly, pine, or ivy the use of a speader/sticker (surfactant)
is recommended. These are available from your local distributor. Always follow the manufacturer鈥檚 label directions.

applications can be made whenever the ground is not frozen. Xytect 2F is versatile and may be applied using a wide range
of water volumes. The amount of recommended water may be adjusted as needed.

General Handling for Xytect 75WSP
Within each Xytect 75WSP package are clear packets containing Xytect 75WSP insecti-

Soil Drench Application
Step 1: Inspect the Tree and Soil
鈥? Correctly identify the target pest
鈥? Determine if timing is right for treatment
鈥? Irrigate if tree is severely drought stressed
(do not saturate soil)

Step 2: Determine DBH
鈥? Follow instructions on Page 3 for
accurate measurement
鈥? Remove any landscape fabric, mulch and leaf litter
prior to application.

Step 3: Excavate Trench Around
Base of Tree (not needed for surface drenches)
鈥? Excavate a small trench that is 2鈥? - 3鈥? deep and 4
inches wide.
鈥? Go deeper if there is a potential of run-off.
鈥? Go deeper if the soil is a heavy clay or is compacted.
鈥? Keep the excavated soil on the outside on the trench.

Step 4: Mix and Pour Xytect Around
Base of Tree
鈥? Follow mixing instructions
鈥? Apply Xytect by pouring evenly around the whole tree.
鈥? After the Xytect has been completely absorbed in the
soil fill and firmly pack soil down to prevent runoff.

Step 5: Record and Keep Application
Information
鈥? Keep a record of the following:
1. Tree Species
2. Target Pest
3. Tree DBH
4. Dosage - including any additives and water
5. Soil Type and Condition - e.g. compact, wet, etc
6. Tree Tag Number (if used)
7. Tree Location, consider GPS
8. Date and Time of Application

Soil Injection Application
Xytect may be applied with many different soil injection systems. The following are instructions on using the HTI 2000.
See HTI 2000 Soil Injector Instructions included with the injector for more determining information.

Step 1: Follow directions on Pages 4, 5, and 6 for deteriming dosage

Step 2: Place probe tip into soil no more than 6鈥? - 12鈥? away from the trunk
Inject
Step 3: Fill HTI 2000 by holding down the Fill Button on the left side of the injector. Button
鈥? The chamber will
automatically stop filling at Volume Meter
Fill Button
the maximum capacity of
250 ml. To fill less than
250 ml, release the Fill
Button when Volume Meter
indicates desired amount.

Step 4: Apply dose to soil
by pressing the Inject Button
on the right side of the injector. Reset Button
鈥? If Xytect begins moving up
and out of the hole, stop the Digital Injection Counter
application at that site and
continue application at a new site. Reduce the pressure. If the problem persists,
consider Basal Drench Application (Page 6).
鈥? The Digital Injection Counter will automatically keep track of the number of times the
chamber has been fully evacuated.
鈥? Evenly apply the Xytect around the tree until required number of injection sites have been applied.

Step 5: When the entire application is complete for each tree press the Reset Button to set
the counter back to zero.

Step 6: At the end of the application day run approximately 1000 ml of
water through the HTI 2000 to clean it, using the same Fill and Inject Buttons
used during application. Always evacuate all material from the chamber and
clean before storing.
