Section 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE
If this product comes in contact with the eyes:
- Wash out immediately with fresh running water.
- Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye and
moving the eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids.
- If pain persists or recurs seek medical attention.
- Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury should only be undertaken by skilled
personnel.

SKIN
If loose fibres come in contact with the skin:
Gently brush off any adherent fibres.
Wash affected areas thoroughly with water (and soap if available).
Seek medical attention in event of irritation.

INHALED
- If dust is inhaled, remove from contaminated area.
- Encourage patient to blow nose to ensure clear passage of breathing.
- If irritation or discomfort persists seek medical attention.

NOTES TO PHYSICIAN
Treat symptomatically.

Section 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

use).
- Place spilled material in clean, dry, sealable, labelled container.

MAJOR SPILLS
- Clear area of personnel and move upwind.
- Alert Fire Brigade and tell them location and nature of hazard.
- Control personal contact by using protective equipment and dust respirator.
- Prevent spillage from entering drains, sewers or water courses.
- Recover product wherever possible. Avoid generating dust.
- Sweep / shovel up.
- If required, wet with water to prevent dusting.
- Put residues in labelled plastic bags or other containers for disposal.
- Wash area down with large quantity of water and prevent runoff into drains.
- If contamination of drains or waterways occurs, advise emergency services.

Personal Protective Equipment advice is contained in Section 8 of the MSDS.

Section 7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE

PROCEDURE FOR HANDLING
Use good occupational work practice. Observe manufacturer's storing
and handling recommendations.
Atmosphere should be regularly checked as agreed (negotiated) to ensure safe
working conditions are maintained.
Avoid all personal contact, including inhalation, when Sealbags are damaged.
Wear appropriate protective clothing when risk of exposure occurs.
Use in a well-ventilated area.
Avoid contact with incompatible materials.
When handling, DO NOT eat, drink or smoke.
Avoid physical damage to Sealbags.
Wash hands with soap and water after handling.
Protective clothing requires regular laundering if exposed to glass fibres.
Work clothes should be laundered separately: NOT at home.

SUITABLE CONTAINER
Plastic bag
NOTE: Bags should be stacked, blocked, interlocked, and limited in height so that they
are stable and secure against sliding or collapse.

STORAGE INCOMPATIBILITY
None known.

STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Keep dry.
- Store under cover.
- Protect containers against physical damage.
- Observe manufacturer's storing and handling recommendations.

Section 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION

EXPOSURE CONTROLS

MATERIAL DATA
For fiber part of bag contents
REL TWA: 0.5 fibres/ml (man-made mineral fibres)

PERSONAL PROTECTION

EYE
- Safety glasses with side shields
- Chemical goggles.
- Contact lenses may pose a special hazard; soft contact lenses may absorb and
concentrate irritants. A written policy document, describing the wearing of lens or
restrictions on use, should be created for each workplace or task. This should include a
review of lens absorption and adsorption for the class of chemicals in use and an account
of injury experience. Medical and first-aid personnel should be trained in their removal
and suitable equipment should be readily available. In the event of chemical exposure,
begin eye irrigation immediately and remove contact lens as soon as practicable. Lens
should be removed at the first signs of eye redness or irritation - lens should be
removed in a clean environment only after workers have washed hands thoroughly. [CDC
NIOSH Current Intelligence Bulletin 59].

HANDS/FEET
Impervious gloves.
Cotton gloves.
Safety footwear.

OTHER
None under normal operating conditions.
When there is any physical damage to Sealbags, take the following precautions:
Wear loose fitting protective clothing, overalls, long sleeve shirts.
Protective clothing requires regular laundering depending on exposure.
Vacuum cleaners should be provided for fibre removal where practicable, or use
wet cleaning methods to minimise dust generation.

The local concentration of material, quantity and conditions of use determine the type of
personal protective equipment required.
For further information consult site specific
CHEMWATCH data (if available), or your
Occupational Health and Safety Advisor.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS
General exhaust is adequate under normal operating conditions.
When there is any physical damage to Sealbags, take the following precautions:
If measured respirable fibre is >0.5 fibre/ml wear approved dust
respirator.
Correct respirator fit is essential to obtain adequate protection.
Even though the recommended limit for respirable fibre is not exceeded in
normal conditions, respiratory protection may be necessary for large fibres
and other dust.
Use a Class M or H respirator, where exposure is above recommended limit.
