FIRST AID MEASURES
4.
Eye: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes by separating eyelids with
fingers. Get medical help if irritation persists. (If easy to do so remove contact lenses if worn).
Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Flush skin with copious amount of water for at least
fifteen minutes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
In case of burns, immediately cool affected skin for as long as possible with cold water. Do not
remove clothing adhering to skin.
Inhalation:
Remove the affected person (s) to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is
difficult, give oxygen.
Ingestion:
If (large quantities of this material are) swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so
by a physician. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a physician

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
0 0
Flash point: 20 C (68 F)
Auto Ignition Temp: 900掳 F (USCG, 1999)
Lower Exp Limit: 1.8% (NTP, 1992)
Upper Exp Limit: 12.4% (NTP, 1992)

Extinguishing media:
Dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide, and 鈥渁lcohol鈥? foam.
Unsuitable media: Do not use water jet to extinguish

Special fire fighting procedure:
鈥? As in any fire involving chemicals, fire-fighters will need to wear MSHA/NIOSH or equivalent
Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in pressure demand.
鈥? Keep upwind.
鈥? No smoking, eliminate ignition sources.
鈥? Consider evacuation of people in immediate danger.
鈥? Minimise number of personnel in risk area.
鈥? Keep container(s) cool with water.
鈥? Extinguish with alcohol resistant foam if available - waterfog (spray) - dry powder, subsequently
secure with foam blanket.
鈥? Use water spray to knock down fire fumes if possible.
鈥? Avoid unnecessary run-off of extinguishing media which may cause pollution.

Unusual fire and explosion hazard:
Vapor may flow long distance to distant ignition sources and flash back. Forms explosive mixtures in
air. Emits toxic and irritating fumes under fire conditions.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
鈥? Evacuate the area
鈥? Wear personal protective equipment as given in section 8.
鈥? Shut-off all sources of ignition
鈥? Stop leaks if possible.
鈥? Contain spillage by any means available.
鈥? Use low sparking hand tools and intrinsically safe equipment.
鈥? Absorb substance in sand or earth or any other suitable material, or cover with alcohol resistant
foam.
鈥? If substance has entered a water course or sewer, inform the responsible authority.
鈥? Ventilate sewers and basements where there is no risk to personnel or public.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
鈥? Handling
鈥? Prevent direct contact by all routes. Check section 8.
鈥? Ground containers and equipment before use.
鈥? Empty containers may contain trace of material that may pose a danger.
鈥? Use with adequate ventilation.
鈥? Wash thoroughly after use.
鈥? Storage
鈥? Keep containers closed
鈥? Store in a cool, dry place and in a designated flame proof area.
鈥? Store away from acids and oxidizing agents.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
鈥? Exposure control: Use under mechanical local exhaust ventilation. Facilities will have standard
emergency showers (Quick drench) and eye-bath facilities.
鈥? Personal Protection:
鈥? Eyes: Goggles or face mask required.
鈥? Hands: Appropriate gloves required. Check break through time. Butyl gloves>3 hrs, PE 1-3
hrs, PE/EVAL/PE > 3 hrs (Nat rubber<1hr.)
鈥? Protective clothing: Wear appropriate work clothing to prevent skin contact.
鈥? Respirators: Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29CFR 1910.134 or European
鈥? Standard EN 149. Always use a NIOSH or European Standard EN 149 approved respirator
when condition demand or are anticipated to require use
鈥? Personal Hygeine: Remove work clothes that are wet. Wash thoroughly after handling.
鈥? Exposure levels
鈥? NIOSH REL: TWA 5 ppm (15 mg/m3)
