4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Eyes: Irrigate eye with fresh water for at least 15 minutes
Seek medical attention
Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air until recovered
Administer oxygen or artificial respiration if patient has breathing difficulties.
Seek medical attention if respiratory irritation develops or breathing becomes
difficult.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting.
Rinse mouth out with water.
Keep patient at rest and seek medical attention
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and launder before re-use.
Wash affected area with soap and water.
Seek medical attention if symptoms persist

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Suitable Extinguisher: Water spray. Contain fire-fighting water by bunding area with sand or earth.

Alcohol resistant foam
Dry powder
Unsuitable Extinguisher High volume water jet
Special Exposure Hazards In case of fire, the evolution of toxic gases is possible

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal Precautions Avoid contact with skin and eyes
Do not breathe dust
Wear personal protective clothing (see section 8)
Environmental Precaution Avoid contamination of watercourses or drains.
For large scale spillages advise relevant authorities of contamination of water
courses/public waters.
Methods For Cleaning Collect contaminated material in heavy duty plastic bags or drums
Dispose of through a reputable waste disposal contractor
In the event of spillage into rivers or drains inform the water services company and
the Environment Agency or other relevant authorities

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling Handle in well ventilated areas
Good industrial practice in housekeeping and personal hygiene should be followed

Exposure Control Limits Diuron and 2,4-D are listed in EH40/2002
Long term exposure limit (8 hour TWA reference period) for both diuron and 2,4-
D = 10mg/m3
Short term exposure limit (15 min reference period) = 20mg/m3 for 2,4-D
Respiratory Protection In areas of poor ventilation wear cv510 (Class FFP1) combi-type respirator
Hand Protection Nitrile or rubber gloves
Skin Protection Protective overalls ensuring arms and legs are covered

The formulation is classified by the EEC as a category 3 carcinogen : substances which cause concern for
humans owing to possible carcingenic effects but in respect of which the available information is not
adequate for making a satisfactory assessment.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Safe Handling of Product: In accordance with current regulations. May be taken to waste disposal site or
incineration plant after consultation with the site operator and/or with the
responsible authority.
Can be landfilled or incinerated when in compliance with the Environmental
Protection (Duty of Care) Regulations 1991
Advice may be obtained from the local waste regulation authority (part of the
Environment Agency in the UK).
Safe handling of contaminated packaging: Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as
product waste.
Empty containers can be landfilled when in compliance with the Environmental
Protection (Duty of Care) Regulations 1991.
