Suitable extinguishing Media
The product itself does not burn. Cool containers / tanks with water spray
Extinguishing media, which must not be used for safety reasons.

Specific hazards
Heating can release hazardous gases, sulfur oxides (SOx)
Special protective equipment for firefighters
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit

Section 6: Accidental release measures

If spillage or contaminated washings enter watercourses or drains inform relevant
authorities.

Small spillage: Dilute carefully with water and neutralize wit lime or limestone
powder.

Large spillage: Contain with sand or earth and dispose of via a licensed waste
contractor, in compliance with local and national regulations.

Section 7: Handling and Storage

Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective clothing. Have available
wash water, safety showers, eyewash bottles as appropriate to the situation
in order to deal with splashes/spills. Use only in an area with appropriate
exhaust ventilation.

Storage: Keep in a cool dry place at temperatures above 鈥?15 潞C. Suitable materials:
plastic (PE, PP, PVC), fibre glass reinforced polyester, epoxy-coated concrete,
titan, acid-proof steel or rubbered steel. Light must not be allowed to reach
the material. Ferric sulphate is transported in rubber lined or stainless steel
20/24 tonne tankers. Containers must be kept tightly closed.

Section 10: Stability and Reactivity

Stability Ferric sulphate solution is slightly acidic and may react
with certain metals to liberate hydrogen gas. Ferric
sulphate will react with bases and inorganic alkalis to
produce ferric hydroxide. It has no adverse reactions
with oxidising agents. Avoid contact with arsenic trioxide
or metal sulphides. Avoid high temperatures, non acid
proof metals, bases and oxidizing agents.

Hazardous Decomposition Products: When heated to decomposition fumes of SO2 and
SO3 could be emitted.

Section 11: Toxicological Information
Acute Toxicity: LD50/oral/mouse = 601 mg/kg

Inhalation: Contains some sulphuric acid and would be very astringent to mouth,
nose and throat. Ingestion causes burns to the upper digestive tracts.
Prolonged inhalation can cause irritation to the mucous membranes.

Eye/skin contact: Causes burns. Repeated skin exposure could give rise to contact
dermatitis/ eczema.

Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed. There is no evidence of carcinogenic, mutagenic
or teratogenic purposes.

Section 12: Ecological Information

Nonbiodegradable. Spillage of ferric sulphate may cause localised damage to animals and
plants. If well diluted and neutralised no lasting effects will occur. Completely soluble in
water. The material should not be allowed to spill in controlled waters in any large amounts,
as sufficient quantities will effect aquatic life forms.

Section 13: Disposal Considerations

Ferric sulphate may be neutralised with a weak alkali such as soda ash or dilute caustic
soda solution. Larger quantities should be disposed of via a licensed waste disposal
contractor, in compliance with local and national regulations. Clean contaminated container
with water. Empty containers should be returned to the supplier.

Section 14: Transport Information
