Section 3 - Hazards Identification
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Warning! Flammable liquid and vapor. May cause central nervous system depression. Aspiration hazard if swallowed. Can
enter lungs and cause damage. May be harmful if inhaled. Causes eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation. Target Organs:
Central nervous system.
Potential Health Effects
Eye: Causes severe eye irritation. Causes redness and pain.
Causes skin irritation. Prolonged and/or repeated contact may cause irritation and/or dermatitis. May be
Skin:
absorbed through the skin. Causes redness and pain.
May cause irritation of the digestive tract. May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
May cause central nervous system depression, characterized by excitement, followed by headache, dizziness,
Ingestion:
drowsiness, and nausea. Advanced stages may cause collapse, unconsciousness, coma and possible death due
to respiratory failure. Aspiration of material into the lungs may cause chemical pneumonitis, which may be fatal.
Inhalation of high concentrations may cause central nervous system effects characterized by nausea, headache,
Inhalation: dizziness, unconsciousness and coma. Causes respiratory tract irritation. Vapors may cause dizziness or
suffocation.
Chronic: Chronic inhalation may cause effects similar to those of acute inhalation.
Section 4 - First Aid Measures
Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get
Eyes:
medical aid immediately.
Get medical aid. Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated
Skin:
clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse.
Do not induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give
Ingestion:
anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If
Inhalation:
breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Notes to
Physician:
Section 5 - Fire Fighting Measures
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved
or equivalent), and full protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by
General thermal decomposition or combustion. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Flammable
Information: liquid and vapor. Vapors are heavier than air and may travel to a source of ignition and flash back. Vapors
can spread along the ground and collect in low or confined areas. This liquid floats on water and may travel
to a source of ignition and spread fire. May accumulate static electricity.
Extinguishing
Use water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or appropriate foam.
Media:
Autoignition

Temperature:
Flash Point: 15 deg C ( 59.00 deg F)
Explosion

Limits: Upper:
NFPA Rating: health: 2; flammability: 3; instability: 0;
Section 6 - Accidental Release Measures
General
Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section 8.
Information:
Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth), then place in suitable container. Remove all
Spills/Leaks: sources of ignition. Provide ventilation. Control runoff and isolate discharged material for proper disposal.
Use water spray to cool and disperse vapors and protect personnel.
Section 7 - Handling and Storage
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Use with adequate
ventilation. Ground and bond containers when transferring material. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing.
Handling: Empty containers retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Keep container tightly
closed. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or
expose empty containers to heat, sparks or open flames. Avoid breathing vapor or mist.
Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a tightly closed container. Keep from contact with oxidizing
Storage:
materials. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.
