methemoglobin to hemoglobin occurs spontaneously after termination of exposure, moderate
degrees of cyanosis need to be treated only by supportive measures such as bed rest and oxygen
inhalation. Thorough cleansing of the entire contaminated area of the body, including scalp and nails,
is of utmost importance. If cyanosis is severe, intravenous injection of methylene blue, one milligram
per kilogram of body weight, may be of value.

Section 4 First Aid
Eye Contact: Flush thoroughly with water for 15 minutes after removing any contact lenses. Consult
physician if irritation persists.
Skin Contact: Immediately remove any contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash skin with soap and
water. Consult physician if irritation persists. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Destroy
contaminated shoes.
Ingestion: Call physician or poison control center immediately. Induce vomiting as directed by medical
personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult or cyanotic, give oxygen. Get medical attention.
