Advice to Doctor
Treat symptomatically

SECTION 5 ?FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Fire/Explosion Hazards
Dangerous decomposition or Combustion Products
Thermal decomposition
Extinguish fire with foam and water spray. If area is heavily exposed to fire and if conditions permit let fire
burn itself out since water may increase the contamination hazard. Fine dust dispersed in air (particularly in
confined spaces) may ignite if exposed to high temperature ignition source. Fire fighters to wear full
protective clothing such and self contained breathing apparatus
Hazardous decomposition products
None known
Hazardous reactions
None known
Extinguishing Media
Extinguish fire with foam and water spray

SECTION 6 ?ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Spills and Disposal
DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with the chemical or used containers. Pick up bulk
material by sweeping or other effective means and place into drums. Do not flush with water. If spill area is
on ground near trees or other valuable plants remove top 15cm of soil after initial cleanup. Should product
contact soil apply activated charcoal. Activated charcoal will absorb but not completely neutralise the
product. Cleanup crew should wear rubber gloves, protective clothing, boots and eye goggles. Dispose of by
burying in an approved landfill site.

Disposal
(1) After intended use:
Shake empty into application equipment. Destroy empty bags by puncturing or shredding them. Dispose
of empty bags at a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in
a licensed/ approved disposal site. Empty containers and product should not be burnt.
(2) After spill or accident
Dispose of sealed containers at approved local waste disposal site.

SECTION 7 ?HANDLING AND STORAGE

Storage and Transport
Keep container tightly closed. Store in a cool and ventilated area away from foodstuffs. During storage keep
from contact with fertilisers, other pesticides and seeds. Store in the closed original container in a well-
ventilated area, as cool as possible but out of direct sunlight.

This product is not a dangerous good

Dangerous Goods / Hazardous Substances Regulation
This product is subject to the following regulations:
?Australia Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail
?State/Territory Storage of Dangerous Goods Regulations
?State/Territory Hazard Substances Regulations

Engineering Control
Use only with adequate ventilation.

Personal Protective Measures
Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale dust. When using the product , wear elbow length PVC
gloves and face shield or goggles. Repeated exposure may cause allergic disorders. Sensitive workers
should wear protective clothing. If product in eyes wash out immediately with water. When applying with the
Weed-A-Metre also wear chemical resistant footwear.

Flammability
Fine dust dispersed in air (particularly in confined spaces) may ignite if exposed to high temperature ignition
source.

SECTION 10 ?STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

No specific stability or reactivity risks known.

SECTION 11 ?TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Health Effects
Acute: Swallowed: No LD50 information is available for the formulated product.
Details for the active constituents are as follows:
Low toxicity through this route
Acute oral LD50 rat: 1690 mg/kg (hexazinone)
Acute oral LD50 rat: > 1869-3080 mg/kg (atrazine)
Eye: A severe eye irritant (due to hexazinone component). May cause
conjunctivitis, mild to moderate corneal clouding and moderate iritis.
Skin: Low toxicity through this route:
Acute dermal LD50 > 5280 mg/kg (hexazinone)
Acute oral LD50 rabbit > 3100 mg/kg (atrazine)
Page: 4 of 5
Date of Issue: July 2004
MSDS Forest Mix Granular Herbicide

May cause skin irritation.
Inhaled: Low toxicity through this route. May cause irritation.

Chronic: None established for formulated product.

Hexazinone:
At high levels (1250 ppm active ingredient) dog studies show growth retardation and evidence of anaemia.
No evidence of mutagenicity. teratogenicity or oncogenicity.

Atrazine:
Atrazine technical has been extensively tested in laboratory animals and in test tube systems. No evidence
of mutagenic, teratogenic or reproductive effects was obtained. After chronic administration a slight increase
in the evidence of mammary tumours was reported in one species (rat) one sex (female) and one strain
(Sprague Dawley) at higher doses. The relevancy of these findings to humans is heavily doubted. Atrazine
has been listed by IARC as a Class 2B suspected carcinogen (ie a possible human carcinogen).

SECTION 12 ?ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Aquatic toxicity: (hexazinone)
LC50 (96 h) Bluegill sunfish 370-420 mg/L
LC50 (48 h) Daphnia magna 151 mg/L

Slightly to moderately toxic to fish.

Atrazine has demonstrated the potential to contaminate ground and surface water. To minimise the entry to
ground and surface water the following recommendations are made:
Do not use in irrigation channels or in drains where water is discharged onto pasture land or crop land.
Do not empty equipment in above situations.
Do not apply within 60m of a recognised waterway or dam.
Do not load or apply within 20m of any well, sink hole, intermittent or perennial stream or river.

SECTION 13 - DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. Puncture or shred and bury empty containers at a local
authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500mm in a disposal pit specifically
marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots. Empty
containers and product should not be burnt.

SECTION 14 - TRANSPORT INFORMATION

UN Number: Not assigned
ADG: Not a dangerous good
