HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ROUTE(S) OF EXPOSURE:
Inhalation, skin contact, eye contact.

EFFECTS OF ACUTE EXPOSURE:
Contact with eyes may cause irritation. Potential skin sensitizer. Testing indicates that PCNB is an experimental
animal carcinogen.

ANIMAL DATA:
Oral LD50 (Rat): >3670 mg/kg
Dermal LD50 (Rabbit): >1000 mg/kg
Inhalation LC50 (Rat): Not available.
Eye Irritation (Rabbit): Not available (Irritant based on human experience).
Skin Irritation (Rabbit): Negative.
Skin Sensitization (Guinea Pig): Positive.

CHRONIC: PCNB
No effects were seen in a 21 day rabbit dermal study. In a long-term feeding study in dogs effects were seen on
liver histopathology accompanied by an increase in serum alkaline phosphatase. In long-term feeding studies in
rats effects were seen on body weight, liver and thyroid histopathology including an increase incidence of thyroid
follicular tumours. Decreased blood thyroxine and increased blood thyroid stimulating hormone levels were also
seen. The thyroid tumours seen in the rat chronic study were the result of altered thyroid hormone levels.

CARCINOGENICITY: ACGIH: A4 (PCNB) IARC: Not applicable.
No increase in tumour incidence was noted in mice fed PCNB for two years. Effects were seen on body weight.

TERATOGENICITY / REPRODUCTIVE EFFECTS: PCNB
Teratogenicity: In a rabbit study maternal toxicity, as evidenced by mortality, abortion and decreased weight gain,
was observed along with development effects in the form of reduced fetal body weight. No teratogenic effects were
seen. In a rat study maternal toxicity, as evidenced by decreased body weight gain, was seen. No teratogenic or
developmental effects were observed.
Reproduction: In a rat study effects were seen on parental and pup body weight. No effects on reproduction were
observed.

MUTAGENICITY:
PCNB has been evaluated in several short-term mutagenicity assays. Positive results were obtained in the CHO
chromosomal aberration assay.

TOXICOLOGICALLY SYNERGISTIC MATERIALS: Not available.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRST AID
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EYES: IMMEDIATELY flush with water for at least 15 minutes. Get PROMPT medical attention.

SKIN: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use.
Get medical attention if irritation persists or dermatitis develops.

INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. Aid or restore breathing if necessary. Get medical attention.

INGESTION: It should not be necessary to induce vomiting. If conscious, give 1-2 glasses of water. Do not
give anything by mouth if person is unconscious. Contact physician immediately.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Notes to Physician: Watch for pulmonary edema. The administration of barbiturates is beneficial. Avoid
adrenaline and morphine. Oxygen may be indicated.
