3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Emergency Overview: WARNING! CONTAINS ORGANIC ISOCYANATE
Primary Route(s) of Entry: Dermal, inhalation.
Potential Health Effects: Vapor or mist may possibly be harmful if inhaled. Substance may cause moderate irritation to eyes.
Substance may cause slight irritation to skin. Substance may possibly be harmful if ingested.
Chronic: Chronic exposure to diisocyanates may lead to permanent decreases in lung function.
Printed: 5/12/2009 Page 1 of 7
Araldite 2028A Huntsman Advanced Materials
Effective Date: 5/12/09 Americas, Inc. (LA)
Inhalation: As a result of previous repeated overexposures or a single large dose, certain individuals will develop isocyanate
sensitization (chemical asthma) which will cause them to react to a later exposure to isocyanate at levels well below the TLV.
Symptoms include chest tightness, wheezing, cough, and/or shortness of breath or asthmatic attack. Chronic overexposure to
isocyanates has been reported to cause lung damage, including decrease in lung function, which may be permanent.
Skin contact: Prolonged contact with isocyanates can cause reddening, swelling, rash, scaling or blistering. In those who have
developed skin senitization, these symptoms can develop even with vapors or small amounts of the material.
Eye Contact: May result in corneal opacity.
Ingestion: May be toxic by ingestion.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious
person. Seek immediate medical attention.
Skin: Immediately wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and launder before reuse. Destroy contaminated
shoes. Seek immediate medical attention.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Seek immediate medical attention.
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.
Note to Physician: Allergic dermatitis or respiratory response in susceptible individuals may be delayed. It may appear after
weeks or even months of frequent and prolonged contact.
Medical Conditions Aggravated by Exposure: Persons with asthmatic-type conditions, chronic bronchitis, other chronic
respiratory diseases, eye conditions or recurrent skin eczema or sensitization should be excluded from working with isocyanates.
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
181癈 ( 358 癋)
Flash Point:
Fire Fighting Extinguishing Media: Carbon dioxide, foam, dry chemical, water spray.
Fire Fighting Equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and complete personal protective equipment. Prevent human
exposure to fire, smoke, fumes or combustion products.
Fire and Explosion Hazards: Substance react slowly with water to form carbon dioxide. Keep water out of containers. Avoid
breathing vapor of fire exposed material.
Hazardous Combustion Products: Decomposition and combustion products may be toxic.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Accidental Release Measures: Evacuate spill area. Eliminate ignition sources. Ventilate area. Avoid breathing vapor. Wear full
protective equipment. Dike and absorb spill with inert material. Transfer to containers suitable for disposal. Promptly, remove and
wash contaminated clothing before re-use. Wash affected skin area with soap and water. Keep spills and cleaning runoffs out of
municipal sewers and open bodies of water. If spilled on a porous surface, ground contamination must be considered.

ventilation when cleaning.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Signal Word: Isocyanate.
Precautions: Do NOT get in eyes, on skin, or clothing. Wear chemical splash goggles and impervious gloves when handling.
Wash skin and clothing thoroughly after handling. Avoid breathing vapor or mist. Use only with adequate ventilation. Keep
containers closed when not in use. Do NOT take internally.
Other Handling Information: In accordance with good industrial practice, handle with care and avoid unnecessary personal
contact. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated skin contact. Do not inhale mists. Use with adequate ventilation. For
industrial use only.
Storage Information: Storage Temperature: Maximum 21deg C. Store indoors in a cool, dry area with adequate ventilation. Use
inert gas blanketing for bulk storage.

OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Personal Protective Equipment: Eye bath and safety shower should be available. Wear protective clothing.
Exposure Guidelines: Wash thoroughly after handling and before eating, drinking, or using tobacco products.
Skin Protection: Wear impervious gloves.
Respiratory Protection: Wear respirator (MSHA/NIOSH or approved equivalent) suitable for concentrations and type of air
contaminants encountered.
Eye Protection: Wear splash-proof chemical goggles.
Engineering Controls: Good general mechanical ventilation and local exhaust are required to meet the recommended TWA.
