3 HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Emergency Overview
No significant adverse health effects are expected to occur during normal industrial handling of this material.
However, always avoid chemical exposures by following safe hygiene procedures and wearing appropriate PPE.

Potential Health Effects Skin
No significant effects are expected to occur following short term exposure. Repeated or prolonged contact with
large amounts of this material may result in irritation.
Potential Health Effect Eyes
Not expected to be irritating. However, prolonged or repeated exposure may cause irritation and conjunctivitis.
Potential Health Effects Inhalation
Under normal conditions, inhalation is not expected to be a problem. However, respiratory tract irritation may
occur if exposed to dusts, fumes or vapors.
Potential Health Effect Ingestion
Not expected to be a health hazard via ingestion. However, ingestion of any chemical should be avoided.
Not a usual route of expousre during industrial handling. This material is mildly toxic via ingestion. It is slowly
absorbed by the alimentary tract and because of osmotic activity, it will draw water into the lumen of the bowel.

eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing. Do not allow victim to rub the affected eye(s).
Get medical attention if irritation persists.
Inhalation
If respiratory irritation or any signs or symptoms of exposure occur, move the person to fresh air.
Get medical attention if cough or other respiratory symptoms develop.
Ingestion
If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Get medical attention.
5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Hazardous Combustion Products
MAY EMIT TOXIC AND/OR IRRITATING FUMES UNDER FIRE CONDITIONS.

After removal, scrub the contaminated area with detergent and flush thoroughly with water. Absorb wash liquid
and place in the disposable container. Do not flush to sewer. Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which
lead to waterways.
7 HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling
Use only in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and on clothing. Empty containers may contain
material residue. Do not reuse. Do not eat, drink or smoke in areas of use or storage.
Minimize dust generation during handling and contact.
Wash hands thoroughly before eating, drinking or smoking.
Storage
Store at room temperature.
HYGROSCOPIC
Keep containers tightly closed and upright when not in use.
Storage Hazards
Store away from strong acids, strong bases, aluminum, and magnesium.

8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Engineering Contols
Facilities using or storing this material should be equipped with an eyewash station and safety shower.
Local exhaust ventilation, process enclosures, and other forms of engineering controls are the preferred means for
controlling exposures.

Eye Protection PPE
Do not wear contact lenses when working with this substance.
Avoid eye contact with this material. Wear chemical safety glasses with side shields or chemical safety goggles.
Skin Protection PPE
Avoid skin contact with this material. Use appropriate chemical protective gloves when handling.
Showering and changing into street clothing after work is recommended.
Respiratory Protection PPE
Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to control airborne levels below
recommended exposure limits.
A NIOSH approved dust respirator should be used as a precautionary measure when airborne contaminants may
occur.
Contact the manufacturer of your respiratory protection equipment for further information and/or recommendations.
A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA 1910.134 requirements must be followed whenever workplace
conditions warrant a respirators use.
