Universal Debris Removal Cabinet Filter
Replacement on ThermoFlex Devices
Creo鈥檚 ThermoFlex庐 devices are currently offered with two options for the removal of gaseous emissions
generated during imaging:
鈥? External ventilation (standard)
鈥? Indoor exhaust with chemical filtration

Both options include the filtration of particulates generated during the imaging of ablative flexographic plates,
letterpress plates, and film. The indoor exhaust option requires the use of chemical filters in addition to the
particulate filters. This technical bulletin provides recommendations on filter replacement intervals for both
particulate and chemical filters.

Please note that all estimated lifetimes are assuming 100% imaged area. Creo customers are responsible for
estimating the actual imaged area for a given job and keeping track of the accumulative imaged area.

ThermoFlex Wide II devices include automatic monitoring of the chemical and particulate filter lifetimes and are
excluded from this bulletin.

Particulate Filter Replacement

ThermoFlex Narrow and ThermoFlex Mid devices do not monitor the Universal Debris Removal Cabinet
(UDRC) particulate filter. For these devices, the customer must keep track of the accumulative imaged area
and replace the particulate filter after approximately 600 square meters.

Contact your Creo representative for a report on particulate filter monitoring for these devices.

Chemical Filter Replacement

ThermoFlex Narrow, ThermoFlex Mid, and ThermoFlex Wide I devices that use internal ventilation also use
chemical filters. For these devices, the customer must keep track of the accumulative imaged area and replace
the chemical filter after approximately 170 square meters. This estimate is based on an average of the most
commonly used flexography plates.

Contact your Creo representative for media-specific chemical filter usage information.

External Ventilation

External ventilation eliminates the need for chemical filtration and is now a standard feature on ThermoFlex
devices. Contact your Creo representative for information on an external ventilation upgrade.
