HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
HEALTH EFFECTS
ACUTE
SWALLOWED Swallowing can result in nausea, vomiting and central nervous system
depression. If the victim is uncoordinated there is a greater likelihood of
vomit entering the lungs and causing subsequent complications.
EYE Irritating to the eyes, may injure eye tissue if not removed promptly.
SKIN Prolonged and repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis due to
defatting effect. Low order of toxicity. Some components (n-Butanol and
cyclohexanone) can be absorbed through the skin with resultant toxic
effects.
INHALED Harmful by inhalation. Vapour concentrations above recommended
exposure levels may be irritating to the eyes and the respiratory tract may
cause headaches and dizziness, Somnolence and narcosis, could be
anaesthetic and may have other central nervous system effects which can
lead to loss of co-ordination, impaired judgement and exposure is
prolonged, unconsciousness.
CHRONIC For the solvent, Toluene: Evidence indicates that repeated or prolonged
exposure to this chemical could result in central nervous system
disorders.

FIRST AID:
SWALLOWED Immediately rinse mouth out with water. Give a glass of water to drink.
Do not induce vomiting. Lean victim forward to reduce the risk of
aspiration. Never give drink to unconscious person. Seek medical advice.
For further advice call Poisons Information Centre.
EYE Hold eyes open & flood with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
immediate medical advice.
SKIN Remove contaminated clothing and wash area with soap and water.
Remove contaminated clothing, soak in water, then launder before re-use
Seek medical aid if irritation occurs.
INHALED Remove person to fresh air. Lay patient down and keep warm. If
breathing is shallow, apply oxygen and seek medical aid.
FIRST AID FACILITIES Where bodily contact may occur, an eye wash station & safety shower or
supply of clean water should be readily available.
ADVICE TO DOCTOR No specific treatment. Treat symptomatically.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
EXPOSURE STANDARDS There is no established exposure limits for this product mixture. Refer to
each constituent.
TWA STEL Carcinogenic Notices
Category
3 3

TWA: The Time- Weighted Average airborne Concentrations over an eight hour working day, for a five day
working week over an entire working life.
STEL: (Short Term Exposure Limit)- The average airborne concentration over a 15 minute period which
should not be exceeded at any time during a normal eight hour work day. According to current knowledge
these concentration should neither impair the health of , nor cause undue discomfort to, nearly all the
workers.
Peak Limitation- A ceiling concentration which should not be exceeded over a measurement period which
should be as short as possible but not exceeding 15 minutes.
`sk' notice- Absorption through the skin may be a significant source of exposure. The exposure standard is
invalidated if such contact should occur.
These exposure standards are guidelines to be used in the control of occupational health hazards. All
atmospheric contamination should be kept to as low a level as is workable. Exposure standards should not be
used as fine dividing lines between safe and dangerous concentrations of chemicals. They are not a measure
of relative toxicity.
ENGINEERING CONTROLS Ensure ventilation is adequate to maintain air concentrations below
exposure standards. While good natural ventilation is adequate in most
cases, local exhaust ventilation may be required. All electrical equipment
should conform to the requirements of AS3000.

PERSONAL PROTECTION

RESPIRATOR TYPE (AS 1716): Where ventilation is not adequate, respiratory protection may be
required. Respiratory protection should comply with AS1716 and be
selected in accordance with AS 1715.
GLOVE TYPE: PVC gloves should be worn when handling. Hand protection should
comply with AS 2161
EYE PROTECTION: Full-face shield, chemical goggles or safety glasses should be worn at all
times while handling. Eye protection should comply with AS 1337 and
be selected and used in accordance with AS 1336
CLOTHING: A PVC apron, rubber or PVC boots may be required for some activities
particularly where a risk of bodily contact is present

FLAMMABILITY
FIRE HAZARDS: Highly flammable liquid. May form flammable vapour mixtures with air.
Fire hazard when exposed to heat, spark or flame. Electrical equipment
should conform to the requirements of AS3000. Vapour may travel a
considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back.
SOURCES OF IGNITION ADVICE: Avoid all sources of ignition.
HAZCHEM CODE: 3(Y)E

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
STORAGE AND TRANSPORT: Store in well ventilated area. Store away from oxidizing agents and
sources of heat and ignition. Keep containers closed at all times-check
regularly for leaks. Classified as Dangerous Goods Class 3 Flammable
Liquid by the criteria of the Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG
Code) for transport by road or rail.
SPILLS AND DISPOSAL: Wear personal protective clothing as recommended above. Remove all
ignition sources and ventilate area. Contain the spill with sand, earth or
inert material. Place in a suitable plastic container for waste disposal.
Dispose of in accordance with relevant local regulations. Do not empty
in drains.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION Highly flammable liquid. On burning may emit toxic fumes. Heating can
HAZARDS cause expansion or decomposition leading to violent rupture of
containers.
LIST OF DANGEROUS COMPOSITION OR Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and toxic fumes.
COMBUSTION PRODUCTS
FIRE FIGHTING RECOMMENDATION Fight fires only from safe distance. Fire 璮ighters and others exposed to
the products of combustion should wear self-contained breathing
apparatus. Prevent spillage from entering drains and watercourses.
TYPES OF EXTINGUISHER / FIRE Foam, dry agent (carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder)
FIGHTING AGENTS:
REACTIVITY: Reacts with oxidising agents.

OTHER INFORMATION

Acute Toxicity / Chronic Toxicity:
No LD50 data for available for product. The toxicity of the product may be attributed to the solvents it
contains. Additive effects may occur with mixtures of solvents. Similar effects can occur where the
consumption of alcohol is also involved.
