SECTION 2. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ?PRECAUTIONS/POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS:
Keep Out of Reach of Children. May cause eye irritation, skin irritation, respiratory tract irritation. May
produce symptoms of central nervous system depression including headache, dizziness, nausea, loss of
balance and drowsiness. Repeated exposure may cause liver and kidney damage.
SECTION 3. FIRST AID MEASURES
EYE CONTACT: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If possible, remove
contact lenses. Get medical attention.
INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. If symptomatic, contact a Poison Control Center, emergency room,
or a physician for treatment information.
INGESTION: Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Get medical
SKIN CONTACT: If irritation develops, run a gentle stream of water over the affected area for 15 minutes.
Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention.
SECTION 4. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
FLASH POINT: N/A
METHOD USED: N/A
Material does not support combustion, but high heat may vaporize sufficient orthchlorotoluene to flash.
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water spray, foam, dry chemical or Carbon Dioxide. Cool drums cold water.
Do not breathe in heavy concentrations of vapors. Firefighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
ODOR GONE (DEODORANT GRANULES)
SECTION 5. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Remove any sources of spark, flame or hot surfaces. Keep out of drains and waterways. Sweep up material and
place in a chemical waste container. Dispose of according to regulations.
SECTION 6. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Store out of reach of children. Keep container closed and properly labeled when not in use. Store indoors, in a cool,
dry, well-ventilated place.
SECTION 7. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Wear chemical resistant gloves. Avoid breathing vapors.
SECTION 8. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
APPEARANCE: VAPOR DENSITY: N/A
Green & tan granules
ODOR: SPECIFIC GRAVITY: Approx. 40lbs/cu.ft (loose)
BOILING POINT: N/A SOLUBILITY: Negligible
SECTION 9. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur
CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Ignition/High temperatures
BY-PRODUCTS: None Known
INCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS: Contact with oxidizing agents.
SECTION 10. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION (Based on the presence of monochlorotoluene)
Target organs affected: Liver and kidney based on high dosage daily rate. Inhalation studies on rats indicated
statistically significant increase of skeletal malformations at a dose of o-chlorotoluene of 9mg/L.
SECTION 11. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION (Based on the presence of monochlorotoluene)
Lab data would indicate that 2-chlorotoluene is moderately toxic to aquatic and terrestrial species. Appears
biodegradation rate is slow.
ODOR GONE (DEODORANT GRANULES)
SECTION 12. DISPOSAL INFORMATION PRODUCT
PRODUCT: Recovered non-usable material may be a RCRA hazardous waste, as defined by RCRA, 40
CFR 216. (Based on the presence of monochlorotoluene). See disposal considerations below for US EPA
disposal requirements. Consult regulatory officials for performance standards.
