Ethanol 1880 1000
Methanol 328 250 262 200
Other Exposure Info. TWA ?the Time-Weighted Average airborne concentration over an eight-hour

a 15 minute period which should not be exceeded at any time during a normal
eight-hour workday.
Material Safety Data Sheet - 3 -of 4
Infosafe No. ACR2C Issue Date: August 2008 ISSUED by SOUTHBIOL
Product Name: SUDAN 111 0.5%
Not classified as hazardous according to criteria of NOHSC
Other Exposure Info. According to current knowledge these concentrations should neither impair
the health of, nor cause undue discomfort to, nearly all workers. These
Exposure Standards are guides to be used in the control of occupational
health hazards. All atmospheric contamination should be kept to as low a
level as is workable. Exposure Standards should not be used as fine
dividing lines between safe and dangerous concentrations of chemicals.
They are not a measure of relative toxicity.
Eng. Controls Use with good general ventilation. If mists or vapours are produced local
exhaust ventilation should be used.

Personal Protection

Respirator Type If engineering controls are not effective in controlling airborne
(AS 1716) exposure then an approved air respirator with a replaceable organic vapour
filter should be used. Final choice of appropriate breathing protection is
dependant upon actual airborne concentrations and the type of breathing
protection required will vary according to individual circumstances.
Expert advice may be required to make this decision. Reference should be
made to Australian Standards AS/NZS 1715, Selection, Use and maintenance of
Respiratory Protective Devices; and AS/NZS 1716, Respiratory Protective
Devices.
Eye Protection Safety glasses with side shields, goggles or full face-shield should be
worn as described in Australian Standard AS/NZS 1337 ?Eye Protectors for
Industrial Applications.
Glove Type Impervious PVC or rubber gloves should be worn to avoid prolonged skin
contact.
Clothing Suitable protective clothing should be worn e.g. cotton overalls buttoned
at neck and wrist. When large quantities are handled the use of plastic
aprons and rubber boots is recommended.
Work/Hygienic Practices Ensure a high level of personal hygiene is maintained when using this
product. Always wash hands before eating, drinking, smoking or using the
toilet.

Flammability
Fire Hazards FLAMMABLE. This product should be stored and used in a well ventilated
area away from naked flames, sparks and other sources of ignition.
Electrically `link' and `ground' metal containers for transfers of the
product to prevent accumulation of static electricity. Keep the container
tightly closed.

This product should be stored away from foodstuffs and strong oxidizing
agents. For information on the design of the store-room, reference should
be made to Australian Standard AS1940, The storage and handling of
flammable and combustible liquids. Reference should also be made to any
relevant Commonwealth, State or Territory regulations.
Transport This material is a Class 3 ?Flammable Liquid according to The Australian
Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail.

Not classified as hazardous according to criteria of NOHSC
- Class 2.1, Flammable Gases, if both the Class 3 and Class 2.1 dangerous
goods are in bulk
- Class 2.3, Toxic Gases
- Class 4.2 Spontaneously Combustible Substances
- Class 5.1 Oxidising Agents and Class 5.2, Organic Peroxides
- Class 6 Toxic Substances (where the flammable liquid is nitromethane)
- Class 7 Radioactive Substances.

Spills and Disposal

Spills & Leaks Remove all sources of ignition. Increase ventilation. Wear appropriate
breathing apparatus and full protective clothing to minimize skin and eye
exposure. Place inert, non-combustible absorbent such as vermiculite,
sand or dirt onto material. Collect the material and place into a
suitable labelled container for subsequent disposal. If large quantities
of this material enter the waterways contact the Environmental Protection
Authority, or your local Waste Management Authority.
Disposal Dispose of according to relevant government regulations.

Fire Explosion Hazard

Fire/Explos. Hazard This product is flammable. Vapours are heavier than air and will `travel'
to low-level areas e.g. sumps, drains, etc. and flashback. Precautions
should be taken to eliminate the build up of explosive mixtures.
Hazardous Combustion Under fire conditions this product may emit toxic and/or irritating
Products fumes including carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
Fire Fighting Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing and self contained
Procedures breathing apparatus (SCBA) operated in positive pressure mode.
Extinguishing Media Use dry agent, foam or water mist.
